Was wondering if anyone found anything this weekend.
I went to check out a reply on my want ad...Dr Pepper
cooler turned out to be a Artkraft 101 just had one sign
on the side. Looked to much like a deep freezer so I passed
then stoped at a Antique store that had a square top Cavalier
it was the size of the little Vendo 56 but they were asking $375 for it. I still can't see paying that for a square top yet.
It needed to be restored. The Dr Pepper sign was kinda cool
it was the 10, 2 & 4 but was reversed in color than what shows in the book. the round part was dark red with white
numbers. Oh well.... next weekend I travel to the other side of Missouri to check out the 23 spin tops and a 4' tall square top Pepsi at some Fire Station.
Anyone do better (hopefully).......

I spent the week-end at the races. the Nextel cup series was here in california this week-end and I had the oppurtunity to experience the races from the infield terrace suite's pit boxes. Am I bragging, you bet it was awesome!! ( I'm a diehard Jimmie Johnson fan) I did have a couple of telephone leads this weekend that I will be following up on. Terry

How much has everyones ad cost them. I have also been doing the small papers but today I called the main paper here in Cincinnati and it was $68 for two weeks to run an ad. I laughed and hung up.

Yeah the main papers cost big $$$. The little ad I run is about $26 for 4 weeks.
I spend that in gas just running around finding nothing. I spent about $60 on
an ad about 3 years a go but got 2 39s out of it.... But times have changed.
Unless some eldery person picks up one of these free papers I run an ad in
I find nothing.... round tops are rare to get a call on anymore..... But I
always hope.
There's gotta be a Pepsi/7up 81 out there for me! After that I have
promised my wife I'm done.... But ....then there's always these little square tops
that I'm getting interested in... I'll blame that on you square top guys!

Eric,
I don't think any of us will ever be "done" collecting machines. As for advertising for machines I have found that word of mouth is usually my best connection. Everyone I know know's what I collect and when they see something locally or on a road trip they keep me posted. This has worked well for me. Terry

hi,
I got a call on Friday. It was a guy who told me he has a 50`s
Coke machine (I started an ad on the blackboard at Shoppers). It was an unrestored 70`s Cavalier - not working.
He wanted 1200 $!!!!!!! Restored it goes for more than 3000!!!!!!!!! Very funny  '<img'>

Well I bought a Cavalier 10 case master , Minus the tank,
compressor, the cap catcher and drip  pan ,  Yes it is just
a shell  I also bought  a Coca Cola  aluminum six pack that is in good  shape and a old dresser to refinish.  Cavalier shell $20
Aluminum six pack $5  Dresser $25   and all at one place
these people have a barn sale once a month  and I hit it every month saturday morning at 7:30 , This was a good
one this time.

I think I'm going to take that Cavalier Shell and turn it in to
a chair or  small couch. Has any body done this yet ?
if so I could use a little input on this.

Thanks
 Pat

Someone here has. I think it was MoonDawg.
I've always wanted to do a couch out of an old Coca-Cola cooler.

Well I thought about it again and decided to run the ad after all. I cout it down in size and got it to $47 for two weeks. Not too bad. They claim to have 4 million readers so I figure someone will have a machine. '<img'>

Well on Friday I finally hooked up with the guy I know (Whose number I lost) who had the squaretop in his garage.
Not as great as I had hoped, but bought it anyway. I'll talk about it and post pictures tomorrow (Monday) mid-morning in my brand new thread, "Markito's Vendo '56A' restoration project":

Hey Kito,
I'll bet things will work out just fine!! A box to just practice things on sure would be a good thing. Everybody needs parts as well. Looking forward to the update.

Gonna try to get pictures tonight my vendo was hard enough to find info on and this La Crosse may send me to the funny farm!!!  My Vendo was my grandad's so I didn't want to use that as my firsrestoration project.  But for $30 this RC machine it getting restored.  My wife may kill me for spending time restoring it, but after restoring the 1910 piano she seems a little more forgiving.  So any advice ya'll have let me know.  As soon as I finish this machine I am gonna start on a complete drug store fountain we took out of our family's pharmacy.  Justin

Wow, a complete drug store fountain from the family's pharmacy, how cool!!! I'm jealous!

Also, tell us more about your grandad's Vendo, we'd LOVE to see photos of that too.

My grand dad had his own mechanics garage and he bought a vendo H90C new in 1963.  when he passed in 1999 i was given the machine.  I cleaned it, used rubbing compund, fixed the lights and it works like a champ.  The only thing it needs is a door (which is apparently hard to find).  The soda fountain is the original out of a 1953 pharmacy. It is the pharmacy that President Bush took Laura to every saturday while they were dating.  I can't wait for it to be done.  But I must cut my teeth on a few simple things before that.  I have had a blast reading the discussion board.  I'll be around for awhile since i am only 28.  Justin
