I bought a illuminated Pepsi La Crosse CCB-64-8 a few weeks ago for $50.00 ($49.25 if you count the quarters I found in it) at a garage sell.

The body is in real good shape with a little surface rust on top of the machine.  It spent several years outside so the paint is oxidized.  I figure a little wax and some touch up paint will fix that.  It is still in need of a good cleaning but I will get to that soon.  The compressor is working great.  It keeps everything cool without a lot of noise.  Everything mechanical works and the seals are still holding.  I don't have a key for it but I have a friend who use to be a lock smith helping me with that.  I am also working on getting another florescent black light bulb and two other bulbs for the coin drop and where you get your drinks.  Now for my main problem:

It has a Coinco FPB 9800 coin mechanism.  When I first got it the slug rejecter would not take any coins.  After a good cleaning (I read this forum to find out how) it had no problems running the coins.  It will take the right amount of coin to activate the release and even give change back when you put three dimes in.  What I am having a problem with is the slug rejecter will not go back in place correctly.  What happens is your coins will fall right trough.

I do know that the part I have circled does not work but I believe it has nothing to do with the problem I am having.

Also here is a pic of the back of the slug rejecter.

A little duck tape temporarily fixes the problem but I would rather have it working right.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

Well the last photo shows you're missing one of the plastic lugs/pins that hold the rejector in place, this will knock the rejector out of plumb, (vertically  not in line) with the coin path that leads to the coin switches below, also the slots that the rejector fits into are shot/broken out/missing, if you have the pieces you can try to super-glue them back in, otherwise you're in the market for a replacement coin mechanism  '<img'> .   the relay you see thats damaged is a coin reject electromagnet or C.R.E.M for short. it 's supposed to reject coins in it's path when the machine (coin-mech) has no change, (or if equipt with a sold out feature/switches.) is sold out. again sorry to say looks like you'll need a replacement unit.  '<img'>

Ouch, I'll bet that hurts! You'll pay more for the coin mech. than you did for the whole machine.
Before you trash that unit, take it out, lay it on it's back holding the rejector in place, and drill a small hole above the original tab on each side, then add short screws. Do not block the coin path.
I haven't had to do this myself before, so I can't assure you it won't create another problem, but it's worth a try.

Thank you for the responses.  I don't have the broken pieces and to be honest I don't see any place on the slug rejector that shows signs of being broken.  But I believe you 100% so I will have to try MoonDawg's idea.  On the sides of the slug rejector are threaded holes.  Two on the bottom are in the right place to put screws so I don't block any of the coins coming trough.  I will have to drill so that I can adjust how the slug rejector sits.  To far back and the coins will get caught.  As for the C.R.E.M I don't see it as a problem if it is not working.  The C.R.E.M below it works (stops coins if power is off and correct change has been entered) and it is staying in my basement so if it is empty I will have it off.  If any of you are interested on how this works out I will be more then happy to post information and pics.  Thanks again.

I've run into this problem too with my COINCO S75-9800 series mechs but fortunately found that the missing piece located on the right side of the unit (reference: your third pic)is a fully replaceable piece.  In other words, it was taken off, not broken off.  From the pics, I think that piece would also fit your unit.  I'm fairly certain I've got a couple of spares in the shop I could send you and if they don't work just send them back.  I'll double check today when I get home but in the meantime send me a mailing address.

If you are talking about the C.R.E.M that is missing I have the metal piece that fits in that spot.  I took it off because with it not working it would block the coins and send them into the change slot.  Thanks anyway.

The top C.r.e.m. is for rejecting Quarters if the mech has no nickles for change, the bottom one is for nickles & dimes. the parts that are missing are shown on the attached pic. the one marked "B" is a plastic shield that protects the nickle slot's trip wire/micro-switch, the one marked "A" is actually (physically) part of the plastic base that "B" screws onto, & it's been busted of of the mech.this is the one thats goofing up the postion of the slug rejector, hate to say it you still need a "Donor" mech for it's "A" part, or a replacement mech.
