My thermostat has started kicking  at 46-48 degrees now.it still will kick in at 34.no adjustment screws on it.is it time for another thermostat.it just started it a few days ago.it always cut out at 40-42 degrees

Yes...If you cant adjust the cut-in/cut-out temperature then replace it.
