I have 2 large door 81's in my house, as well as a Pepsi 81, whose coin mechanisms according to Collecture, (whom most if not all of us would agree) is the subject matter expert on coin mechanisms, told me that NONE were original to the machine (s), for a variety of reasons.  All work fine, and the novelty of using a dime every time I wanted a beer wore off rather quickly. IMO as long as the handle turns, and it frees the bottle stack, I am happy. M

Don't some 81 D coin bezels have a "use correct change" window,  while others are just blank white?

I have had both styles of coin windows...

I have an 81 D with a change giver mech and a 56 with the exact same door and bezel as the 81.  The 56 has a non-change giver mech.  Moondog is correct, the only difference is the 56 has a solid while blankoff in the coin bezel window.  The 81 has a clear section in the window where you can read the "Use correct Change" flag when there is no change in the tubes.  Could swap them between either machine just by swaping a couple screws.
