Here are some more pics of my 81 after I had a bit of time to clean.

Dawn soap and Meguire Clean & Polish wax are what I used  to get to this point. I want to finish removing the coin decal above door and need new plexi for bottle door and coin decal. The cord is in bad shape and I need to replace before plugging in again.

Not sure if bottle mechs. work. It looks like it has been rigged with a piece of wire somehow. That's another day.

I'm remodeling my basement sort of retro and when I get done with that I'll move it into the house.

Thanks for the tips thus far. I'll be back for more!

Brian.

It looks good but with a fresh coat of paint it would look like this.

The new paint looks sweet!

I'm into the original look. I think I'm pretty lucky about the condition mine is in.

Everything seems to be original on mine except some decals and the door glass has been replaced on 2 of the panes with plexi that had a mill mark of 1984 in the corner.

Awesome! Would you mind posting some close ups under restorations/refinishing?
All you guys!....Would be neat to see tricks of the trade and how differnet parts
of machines are handled when restoring.
Thanks

Don't believe him!  Takes a lot more than just paint to turn out a jewel like this.

I agree with rogerz. An original is only original once. While restored ones do look awesome and I do plan on having a few of mine restored, the originals are the best (there is just something about it). I have acquired a few so far and have posted pics in the photo gallery for all to see.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the compliment. Yes on all decals on all of the machines. Actually, I think they are all silkscreened on the 81 - I don't know about the others, but I think they are silkscreened as well. I have noted the only things I have done to them. The 81 is the only machine that I have done anything really major to - POR15 to the bottom of the liner and I added a reproduction 5 cent decal to the bezel. I have taken new pics of it and will replace the ones in the gallery soon. I currently have it full of drinks and as soon as it is empty, I will post a pic of the inside also. I also have a nice VMC DP 110 that I will add soon also. I am waiting on an original DP green bottle door to replace the rusted one that is currently on it. I just hope it buffs out and matches well.
