Title: Trying to drill Stoner Theatre round lock
Post by: barryra on April 27, 2009, 10:12:31 pm
I have a Stoner theatre & am trying to drill out the lock but am having no luck. I started with a small drill bit & worked to larger. As you can see in picture I can only get to some brass. Any ideas how this type of lock can be drilled? Thanks

drill compltely out using a 5/16" bit to start with and follow with a 3/8" bit.

I've always used a step drill bit to drill out locks.  I've probably done at least 10 locks in the past six months and none have taken longer than a minute to get open.  I drilled out my Stoner JR locks last weekend using one of these bits with no problem.

Regardless of what drill bit(s) you use, make sure they are good one.  Once you get past the brass, you will be drilling into harden steel.  Take it slow!!!

If you need old locks that came out of Stoners, I have some for sale, the company I work used to fill stoners.
