Title: Restoring tub for a vendo
Post by: joesquid on May 27, 2003, 10:33:11 am
There's some sort of hardened gunk located in both bottom rear corners of the tub (Vendo 144).  Is it supposed to be there to prevent moisture/corrosion buildup in the corners?  It's hardened now but looks to have (at one time long, long ago) been some sort of putty.  Can anyone tell me more about this stuff?  Should I chip it out and replace it?
Thanks

Eric,

I believe this to be a form of a plumbers putty if you will...
Based on the fact that this is usually found in the corners of the liners, I think it was to stop water from exiting the liner other than the designed spot at drip tube...

For restoration purposes, I have used the plumbers putty or caulking with good results. You'll definately want to keep water from entering the cabinet voids and begining the rust process on a newly restored machine!
