Recently acquired a Quikold chest type cooler, made for water use. It is basically complete, missing lower front panel and a couple stainless pieces that go around lid opening. Refrig unit is complete and seems to work fine. The machine is done in embossed Mission Orange and painted lemon yellow. This is factory paint color. Machine shows no signs of ever being redone. Can anyone help me with parts for this rare gem, anyone parting one out? Can anyone tell me why they painted it lemon yellow and call the machine Mission Orange?

Terry,

Can you post a photo of the cooler?
Locating parts may be difficult... You're going to be knocking on a lot of doors to find the missing parts! Patience and persistance are two virtues you'll learn in collecting soda machines... A good start may be with all of the suppliers in the Parts Suppliers Section
As for the paint scheme, I would think that Mission Orange had the cooler painted this way for their identity... Not to be confused by another brand... Who's to say that it could have been reconditioned in the 50's like many machines/coolers where due to changes in advertising etc...
You'll have to do a little research on Mission Orange advertising and see if this type of color scheme was evident in their advertising of the time...

My six cents,

Sent you a picture of the soda machine via email because we couldn't figure out how to post it on here. Perhaps you can put it in the program. I did find the spec tag. It is a S&S 1400 WD. Still looking for answer as to why it is painted lemon yellow and labeled Mission Orange. Can anybody out there help me??? Does anyone have parts for this machine.
Thanks.
Terry :)
