Finally started on getting my westinghouse WB-60 cleaned up and in operation.  Mine has obviously seen a rough life.  I need lots of help with how the machine mechanics should be put together.   '<img'>

The microswitch that stops the vend motor is hanging loose and there is no obvious marks that indicate where it should mount.  A picture would be a great help.

The selector linkage from knob to right angle bracket on door has been cobbled.  A picture of the connecting rod and/or dimensions would help.

It appears the selector linkage should connect to the "V" slot in the center of the carriage but mine is just hanging close by with no obvious clips.  Again a picture would be great.

The start/run capacitor for the compressor is also hanging loose.  Where should it be mounted?

All the insulation around the compressor is filthy and falling down.  What type of insulation is best to replace it with?  Has anyone glued foam in place instead of the fiberglass?  Where is a good place to buy the insulation and glue to install?

I think I have more than used up my quota of questions for one post.  In case you can't tell this is my first attempt at trying to revive a soda machine.   '<img'> Pictures of someone's machine would be fantastic and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can provide any pictures you need, Sparky.  My machine is still dissassembled but I took a bunch of pictures while I was taking it apart.  Or I could snap the photos from my WC78 that is still in one piece (for now  '<img'> ).

You are talking about the Multi-Drink machine with the selection dial, right?  Do you have the manual for it?

This tells an obvious story. The compressor was not
working,so the previous owner had to bypass these two
items to connect direct.  My guess is the compressor did
not start so the parts were left hanging. Bad compressor

Bob,

Thanks for the pictures of the microswitch and the linkage.  they are exactly what I am looking for and they really help.   '<img'>

No, I don't have a manual.  do you have one or know where I can get one?  It would help alot since I am new at this.

Moondawg -- Actually the compressor does run.  It looks like the run capacitor has just been laying on the bottom of the cabinet.  I think it should be mounted somewhere but don't know where.  thanks for the reply.

Oh, if it's a 3 in 1 capacitor, it was not original equipment so you
have the opportunity to mount it anywhere you want.

Bob,

That picture help me straighten out the linkage.  Thanks.

Can you measure the length of the linkage rod from the arm on the selector knob to the "L" shaped bracket on door.  This is the one you previously sent me a picture of.  My machine has a piece of stiff wire in place of the rod so I need to fabricate a new rod.

Is there any place I can get a manual for this machine?  I am sure I will need information to help me set up all of the mechanics if I dissamble to clean/refurbish/lube.  I would hate to rely on my memory and pictures I take.  As I get older I find my memory is not as good as it used to be and even when I was younger and overhauling engines I always seemed to end up with spare parts.   '<img'>

Your pictures are really good.

Sparky,

On the home page here at SMC you'll see a link for parts suppliers.  The first two are Funtronics (Steve Ebner), and The Soda Jerk Works (Steve Jebb).  Contact them for a manual - I'm sure I got mine from one of them.

I'll get you that measurement.

Can you post a picture of your machine?

Bob,

I am starting to sound like a broken record - Thanks again.

I am not sure how to attach a picture.  I will try.  If not successful maybe someone call tell me how.

NICE MACHINE, Sparky!!

That's the first 7 cent sticker I've seen on a Multi-Drink.  Very cool.

What am I seeing between the bottle opener and the coin release plunger?

I've got good color copies of original flavor strips for these if you are interested.

Sparky - you had emailed me about the length of the selection rod.  It takes a 90 degree turn at the point where it attaches to the vend mech:

Hope this helps:

Bob,

The coin changer is missing, but yea I thought the 7cent decal was cool.  What is left of the wiring diagram on the door also references a 7 cent coin changer.  I don't ever remember seeing a machine take 7 cents even when I was a kid.  Someone has added a key switch and a pushbutton switch that they were using for "free" vend.  I am not sure what I will do with them.  I would like to get a coin changer and thought it would be real cool to get a 7 cent one.

Let me know what you want for the selection decals because I do need some and would be interested in what you have.

I sent you an email with my email address before I saw the picture here.  I believe the picture you posted was from the "L" bracket on the door down to the linkage on the "carriage".  That rod is intact on my machine - the one I need the dimension on is from the selector knob to the "L" bracket on the door.  Sorry for the confusion  '<img'> .  I would appreciate it if you could shoot another picture with the tape measure by it.

Thanks for all your patience and help.

Bob,

Thanks again.  I am going to get some rod and make a new linkage now that I know the proper length.

I ordered a manual and parts catalog so that should help with a lot of questions.

Now I just need the time to tear into the machine and really start working on it.

Is it possible to get me a set?  I can get them scanned and posted for the others.  I hope to get my Westinghouse restored some day, and the strips will come in handy!

Scanning them is a great idea, Dr G.  I'll get them scanned and make them available.

It would be best to scan/recreate them as vector art in case they need to be resized for various button sizes...

Which brings me to the repair certification Glen sent me... I'll be getting back on this project as I have just returned from a short seven day vacation...

My six cents,
