OK.... Here's my Easter 2005 story.
Just finished a great meal at the in-laws, kids had their Easter egg hunt and everybody is getting ready to head home or to the next family gathering.
We're at the inlaws, who have lived in this, new to them, home for about 2 years, It's near a river here in Missouri and since the leaves are not yet blooming you can see quite a ways.
My brother-in-law and I decided to walk over to check out the
view and to the right is a old summer home. As we're looking around I see a, what I thought was the top of an old ice-box in the back of this summer home.... I look closer and HELLO
a Vendo 56!!!!
I grabbed my digital camera and shot a image....
Went back to the in-laws house and asked them about the home.
It belongs to a older couple that live in St. Louis and their son
lives there most of the time.... Mother-in-law says
she talks with them quite a lot, so she is going to get the scoop for me on this machine.
Now I don't want to get my hopes up....They may have just bought it..... Or their son may have just picked it up....
Or there's the old “Nah I don't want to sell it” line
(Which seems to be told to me over and over )
But come on.... it's out in the weather not even covered
How much could it mean to them...... Anyway....
So we'll see... I'll keep you all posted....
BUt WOW what a find a Vendo 56 right across the road.

More proof to what I previously stated --> "You never know where these machines will pop up!" ':p'

Wow! I am jealous and very excited for you!
Guess I need to keep my eyes open more often.
Crossing the street is sure a lot easier than driving all the way to and through Iowa and back! ':p'

Eric,
Hope you can give that critter a proper home!! Think I'd be watching for son to come home and take a plate of cookies or whatever over and see what the story is. Did it vend?

All I did was open the glass door and check for shelves and I opened the coin door and the mech is there.
But it being someones property I chickened out and snapped the shot then left. It looks really straight and solid
just didn't open the main door which I wish I would have done now....
I don't know what to do... but play it cool... don't want to call and get them thinking or asking around....
Just gotta wait when they come out to the house, ask them then, show some cash then haul it off (hopefully)
But believe me... It's driving me crazy not knowing...wondering how long they've had it or want it.
There's a trash pile where they burn stuff, a old refrigerator on its back, old tires. then this machine
on the back patio in the weather... I believe it faces East but it looks  to be in good shape....
I don't think it could have been in the weather too long.... There's an upper deck above but it only covers
about half the machine.
Well stay tuned we'll see what happens......

I feel for you, Eric.  This waiting is making ME nervous ':p'  .  You could have stumbled on any machine, but geeeez a round top 56.  That's one machine that will keep you awake at night '<img'>  .
