Will they have it on free vend? The rack for a cornelius can only vend up to $0.35. Are they on a strict budget? You could get a cheep ideal 55 or Glasco GBV50 and put the new funtronics rack in it. You can usually get a generic ideal cheep. Put a fishtail logo on it and it will look much better than a cornelius. However once they are painted the cornelius machines look good. This one was woodgrain before I painted it red and white. How limited is their space. Realistically a cornelius doesn't take much more floor space than a Vendo 56. It is taller but the floor space is about the same. Or a little more space and you could use a Cav USS-64. That is the perfect machine for a place like that since it will vend anything. I have even added dollar bill changers to a USS-64 for a fraternity that wanted to vend beer at parties. I set it up for $3 per bottle/can. And with a paint job a USS-64 looks great too.

Thanks for the other suggestions. Finding any of the sliders around here have seemed to be a bit difficult...or at least ones that are reasonable. I saw on craigslist a woodgrain for $300...thought that was a bit much. The have a about a 3x3 space in the corner of the room available and can't be much taller than 5'. They will be setup for free vend, and do have a budget on machine purchase and refurb.

That is an expensive beer!

I guess when you at a party and all of the beer is gone and the stores are closed you'll pay anything??? Maybe that is what they had in mind. Smiley It was a nice setup though. I had to put a dreaded hasp lock on it though because the bill mech went where the lock bar was. I wish I had gotten pics of it. I went back a few times for repairs after a while and they said they were really making a mint on the machine.

If you can't find a slider you might look for one of these.  I see them pop up on CL and they are usually priced right.

I know it is not vintage, but for someone on a limited budget it should be a reasonably priced, trouble-free machine.

Will they have it on free vend? The rack for a cornelius can only vend up to $0.35.

Actually, that's not true.  If the coin mech only takes nickels and dimes, its set at a fixed price (usually 10 or 15 cents). If however, it's one of the newer coin mechs that take quarters nickels and dimes then the price can be set anywhere from free all the way up to $1.50 in nickel increments. (ie 0, 5 cents, 10 cents, 15 cents , 20 cents, 25 cents, etc.

Here's the patent for the coin mech. If you look at figure 1 you can see the dial that allows you to set the price.

http://www.google.com/patents?id=niQ5AAAAEBAJ&dq=4098384

It's not obvious from looking at the coin mech that you can adjust the price as you have to remove two or three screws and pull the coin mechanism out to get at the adjustment knob.
