Title: Cornelius Slider
Post by: ajf5577 on December 23, 2015, 10:53:05 am
I picked up a Dr Pepper machine yesterday and the fellow gave me this Cornelius Slider. Does anyone collect these or is it another one for the junk pile? The innards look to be in great shape, and it cools.

These seem to get as much admiration as woodgrain squaretops. Not appealing to collectors but there must be some use for them.....
My thought would be to paint your name and phone number inside the lid and donate the machine to a local party rental store.
People unaware of sliders may soon come to you for the real machine, an Ideal 55.

I had two of them - planned to do a rattle-can paint job on them and use them in the garage.  In the end, I put them on CL for $50 for the pair.  No takers so I put them on  the free section and they eventually went away.

They kinda remind me of an old player piano in a basement.

First, you try to sell it...no takers.  Then, you try to give it way. Again, no takers.  Then you end up paying someone to haul it away

With scrap prices these days I'll bet I can get $3.50 for it at the scrap yard. Well, maybe a couple of bucks.
I like the idea of painting a wanted poster on the lid. I wonder if this can be adjusted to sell for modern prices? I didn't look too closely.

Mine used to look similar to yours. I like mine and people like to get beer out of it during parties.
