Well, I sold the first clock I bought for more than double what I paid for it, so I couldn't resist buying another one in non-working condition.  The cord was cut and the clock mechanism was for the most part seized up.  I was able to pull it all apart, clean up the gears and eventually the clock starting working.  Alarm kicks off just as expected.  I just need to pickup a replacement gear and chain for the setting of the alarm, but that shouldn't be too hard.

Cool little clocks, I let it run all night and it kept perfect time.
