hello once again, well I started to clean the wb-60 in an attempt to rid the old fridge smell, broken bottles, and what ever else was on the bottom and in the process found a dead mouse in the drip tray. no big deal figured I would find one. then started to clean out the old insulation from the compressor area found another one and then another on top the evap. darn even though they were all petrified I figured the hell with it. so i tore it apart.

after a little scrubbing it wasn't as bad as I thought it was. most of it was old soda. this is what i ended up with

i picked up some 3m strip caulk for the corners and a can of rustoleum cold galvanized compound zinc rich coating since i had to scrub the bottom.
since i have this apart i was wondering what if it would be wise to replace the thermostat at this time even thought it works and maybe have some one solder some fittings on the lines and recharge it while its out? not sure if there are any common failed parts. would hate to put it all back together and then have something fail and then have to take it apart again darn i basically just want it clean and working for now ill eventually have the inside powder coated (years from now) and painted but have no funds for that at this time.
any tips, tricks, or suggestions would be great

Looking good!  If the compressor and thermostat are working, then I'd leave them alone until you have a problem in the future.  If I remember from my 78, you can get the compressor deck out by only removing the vending chute, leaving the vending rack in there.

ill remember that if any thing happens in the future. I wanted to clean the whole thing really good before I use it.

Kevin,

Are you located in Michigan?  I noticed an old Bicentennial Michigan license plate in one of the picture.  If so you will have to join the MI SMC Mafia!
