Title: Compressor cooling issue
Post by: Fire708 on February 24, 2015, 08:31:59 pm
Just picked up a WB-66 and it's not cooling. Neat machine and it was a good price.
When I picked it up the seller had it plugged in and it was nice and cold. I had to lay it on its back to get it home but I waited two days before plugging it in.
The compressor turns on and runs. The small line gets cold from the condenser coils to the evaporator coils. The evaporator never cools down. I've left it running for two days straight and no change.

Is there something I can do or is this a ship it to someone with experence, knowledge, tools issue?

If the smaller of the two copper lines is getting cold, is it frosting at the point where it enters the evap' coils, or is it frosting further "upstream" away from from the bottle compartment & nearer to the compressor itself?

could be a plugged filter/dryer ( if equipped) or a plugged/restricted capillary line,  or a very low freon charge

Closer to compressor. I believe it does have a filter/dryer.
All three sound like something way beyond me.
This morning the inside temp was a nice 68f, ambient was 36. Maybe I'll just make it my coffee machine.
