Well, I was at an old service station yesterday and as I often do, I asked one of the guys if they ever had an old Coke machine there. I'm always trying.

He said that they never did, but he knew that there is a beautiful old round top Coke machine in the hallway at the "Russian Tea Room" restaurant in my town and that it's been there forever.

Well, upon leaving, I literally headed straight to that restaurant. When I got there I mentioned the machine and the owner said, oh yeah, that... we sold it less than a month ago! Turns out it was a beautiful old Vendo 81 and they had it forever and finally needed extra room, so they sold it to some guy for just $1,500 just about 3 weeks ago!

Arrrggghhh!

I had never eaten there, so I never knew that it was just sitting there all these years. Obviously I would have LOVED to have bought that machine.

I guess my only concilation is that I don't currently have that kind of money (even though it is an amazing price) and heck I'm still trying to save up $500 for that V-110 that's being saved for me.

But man, that hurts to have missed it by just a few weeks! '<img'>  '<img'> '<img'>

'Kito,

I feel for you.  A friend told me a few weeks ago about a small store that had a few old coolers (the all-red ones) used for sodas.  I went to the store several times, but the owner was out with a bad back.  My friend ran into the owner's son last weekend and asked about the coolers.  The son said his father GAVE them away about a year ago.

What kills me is that though I've never been inside the restaurant, I was in the parking lot there just 2 months ago. I was just 100 feet away from my dream machine and I never even knew it!
Makes you wonder how often we pass right by incredible soda machines (in garages, etc.) every day and never know it. '<img'>
