SMC Discussion Areas

Hello Everyone,

With recent issues on the server, some of which were created by outside sources and some regretfully by myself; I will be "Restoring" the server to its original state as of Nov. 14, 2012...
I have been consulting with higher authorities to get many issues resolved and we have come to this "Restore" as the best option for everything that has occurred...
With this said, I have to regretfully inform everyone that I am losing ANY data and posts/threads after Nov. 14...

They cannot give me an exact time for completion, but do state everything should be up and running within 24 hours

I do not know when the actual down time will begin, but should anyone wish to contact me, I have a temp email: beschen1@gmail.com

I'm unclear as to what posts..all & any after Nov. 14th/2012 until the server restore is complete ???

I will have the database backed up just prior to the recycle/restore process, which could take some time, and will import everything so there may be no loss of information provided I can get to retrieve the DB before SMC is back up and running and everyone starts posting again...

With that said, I was able to get everything back with one exception, that I have found so far, any attachment made after Nov. 14 may not be available/present...

I had one hell-of-a-time getting the server restored, etc, etc...

I still have more work to accomplish, but I'll get there...

Wheeeeewwwww ! ! ! I'm glad that is over ! ! !

I just tried a google search for your web site again,  and i got a blank page and my antivirus program told me i now have a virus on my computer..Good  luck  !

I should the Google Redirect Hack resolved...

I did a quick search for Soda Machines to find the SMC site link. I clicked on the home page link and it worked great but when I click on the SMC Discussion page I get the virus warning.  The Soda Machines  & Syrup Dispensers link works fine.

Same response here, SMC Home is good, Forums is SPAM, soda machines and syrup disp. work fine, and photo gallery gives an error, but it's not spam

Jim, I realize I'm a bit late on responding to this one, but thanks for all the work you do on keeping this site up and running.  I know that I have found it a valuable resource when concerning these sorts of things and am not sure what I would have done without it!!!  So thanks!!!   :happydrinkers:

BTW...is there an issue with pulling up the soda machines database or is it just me on my computer???

I can't pullup soda machine database either and having no luck posting pics that are sized properly.

yep, The pictures are all 404 "file not found" & I can't post pictures either.

I have noticed old threads when searching don't show pictures.  All show up as 404.

I have been burning the candle at both ends since the server has been compromised ! ! !  :Oo:
I had several security issues I was not aware of and this time the hackers found them!

I am slowly getting things back in order...  :hopefull:

Have not been able to access the Photo Gallery in a while. Don't know if it is related to other picture issues (or if it is me), but thought I would mention it.

I believe I have the Photo Gallery functioning again for those that utilize this feature...
I have not fully tested functionality yet, but anyone interested in poking around, I would greatly appreciate your efforts ! ! !

UPDATE:
The Photo Gallery can be viewed but no Albums/Photos can be added at this time... Another Permissions Issues... Working on it...

I may have the Photo Gallery functioning again...
Viewing is not a problem; however, I created a new album without incident but did receive a few errors while uploading new photos of a recent Stoner Jr restoration... Surprisingly, the photos are there and display properly. I have since made additional modifications that may remove the errors while uploading...
Anyone that create a new album and uploads photos, please let me know if there are any issues during the process...

The Old "attachments" in the SMC Discussion Areas is troubling me ! ! !

Are the old SMC board attachments gone for good?

I have one more thing to to try...
I'm very discouraged this has occurred from the Tape "Restore"...
I have spent a lot of time on this and it's strange the images are not displaying...

No worries. We've all been there, bad hard drives, trying to move data from PC to PC, systems issues, corrupted software, etc.

It'a all held toegther with duct tape. Good luck -

First of all thank you all the tremendous work you do and all the time you devote to this make this forum possible. Just curious if the older attachments are at this point forever gone or is there still hope?

I have one more attempt which requires a script to change/remove the ".jpg" extension on all the files that have one.
I've been so busy with projects and now I'm out of town for the week; I just haven't had the time to carefully experiment and hopefully not make things worse...

Jim, looks like all the old attachments are back?  I can see most of them on old threads, everyone else see the same?  If so, great work getting through all the issues, I appreciate all the work!
