The nuthouse?

Just Kidding  Jas  biggrin

What direction are  you looking for? A particular model or style?   Finding them on Ebay is a given,  bought avoid the $30 models painted red w/ Coke decals going for $200.

I have a Ford, the  round glass top on a silver base, that was found in almost every barber shop and corner grocery store when I was younger.  A search on earlier threads  here will turn up pictures of different models restored and or owned by others.

And another thing (speaking from experience) watch the condition of the globes I bought my first gumball machine with no globe thinking they'd be cheap ...$35! oops
Check crowriver.com he sells decals, globes, gaskets and other parts... Roger is a great guy.
Watch ebay check Acorn, Northwestern Machines and Columbus machines
or just type in gumball machine... they're cheaper and easier to restore than pop machines
... And just imagine a whole wall of machines......yessssss! Cool

Well I can do some research, I have until August I may get some funds for
anniversary. Or Dec for my birthday.

Guess I'll browse the threads.

I do like the acorn look. Not sure about a nut machine, havent given it much thought.

I have the same as Kilroy.  I bought a Ford gumball machine that dispenses the chickle flat gum.  The reason I chose the Ford is because it reminded me of my childhood.  I use to bypass the candy store and go to the shoe store because their gum machine was cheaper, 1c,  and it gave me more gum.  Mine only gives one piece for a penny, but that one use to give out more.

Basically, I would suggest that you think back to when you were a kid and try to remember the gumball machine that you use to buy from, and get one of those, whatever it is.

I agree the acorns were around when I was a kid (I'm 43...almost)
So I have 2 nice ones and 2 I need to restore.... check that site crow river
he has several for sale... you can look at those and decide what you like
Northwestern Model 60 where also popular in the 60s and those you can get
parts for too I would prefer the glass globes and you can find those resonable
and sometimes find 2 on a stand which would be cool.
And as far as these nut machines... doesn't mean you have to put nuts in them
they'll dispense candy too... M&Ms one side plain the other almond! Yessssss upside

Yea, spend some time looking.  All of the suggestions have been good ones. Or, you can go with a "different" kind of machine.  That's what made me get my Hit The Target and my Titans.

Hey Dave... if you need to ship them over the pond, let me know. Also, if you decide to visit the Big Apple while on the east coast, let me know. I work pretty close and would make an effort to hook up...

There are a bunch of really affordable older machines still out there. Victor Topper's are nice looking and retain a vintage look. The Acorn's are in the same boat but a little more modern looking and have more of a chance of having a plastic globe vs. a glass globe.  Ford's are very popular and very iconic of the 50's - 60's. When you start getting into Columbus & Northwestern machines or any of the pre-40's porcelain coated machines you start talking some "big coin". But, they are also a farily good invesment.

I love my Gumball machines. I have a Victor Topper, ford M&M machine and a Victor Vendorama.

Dave I brought my vendorama to Singapore in my carry on. I had some really puzzled looking baggage screeners on my way here. When they checked it out in Singapore they almost wouldn't let it in since when they asked what it was I said it was a gumball machine. Since chewing gum is against the law here in Singapore they almost took it from me. I had to convince them that it was an antique and I was going to fill it with candy in my home. They couldn't understand why I would want an old vending machine for my home. I almost thought I had lost it.

Hi Guys...

Well I made it safely home from Boston and more importantly so did the gumballs...

Have been up well over 24hrs now and not sure whether on English time or US time...

I had one thing to do before I could go to bed and that was to get my new babies comfortable in the room...

Jasmine - The bottom two are NW 49's (Yes one is done in the Pepsi theme not my idea but my seven year old. We had some spare decals left over... Plse don't report me)

The black one on the top is a NW 31 the middle one a Silver Kind and the other side in a lovely green is a NW33.

Does anyone know where I can buy a Vortex/Dixee glass cup holder from??

Just stuck 40lb in the USPS calculator... Came out at $151.50...

If I was lucky enough to win and have it shipped I'd also have customs charges ontop.

That includes shipping costs so factor in another $100 at least..

Its just not viable... Shame cos it looks a lovely machine...

Good luck with the auction... The pictures really work..

Dave,

the best place to find a Dixie Vortex Cupe Dispenser is pretty much Ebay. I found a guy at the last Fall Chicagoland Show that was reproducing and selling the metal mounting plate for the cup holders which is usually missing, that's about it.

Thanks Brian...

Have had a look on Ebay...There are acouple on now but don't have the curved fixing brackets
for the gumball machines...

There's no rush ... I'll put it in as one of my searches and hopefully something will turn up.

Do you know the diameter size of the tube.. It looks like they made lots of different sizes

So far I like the Fords and the Victor machines.
I like the chicklets idea I can get those easily.

I mentioned it again yesterday and Hubby wanted to know if I was putting it in my shop or in the house.
So I guess he has come around to the idea.

Now dear daughter is another thing. She really thinks I'm crazy, like I dont jave enough "old stuff". Still working on the last pece of the old bedroom set I inherated, my 2 soda machines and now a gumball machine.

I'm thinking hubby likes the gbm because it's small and doesnt take up much space.

I cant research much this week I have way too much to do in the shop. 2 birthday cakes, Mother's day petit fours and a birthday cake that a 12 year old designed. Cant understand her way of thinking on color choices.  darn
