Vend handle won't rotate counter-clockwise

Hello All,

Any ideas why the vend handle will not spin CC on a round top V-56? Have coaxed the rejector/coin mech. assembly into correctly working with dimes and quarters. Nickels still have problems hanging in the rejector.

When I try and rotate the handle so I can close the coin door it hits a hard stop. Can't tell what is wrong. All appears clean an unobstructed. Is there something I'm missing?

As far as the nickels hanging in the rejector, I would give is good hot soapy bath and scrubbing with an old toothbrush...

The crank handles are supposed to be rotated Counter-Clock Wise to open/close the coin door. Once done working/loading the machine, the handle will be rotated Clock Wise until it stops which will be the normal "ready to vend" position.

If this process is extremely difficult, you might consider removing the handle, opening the backing plate and checking parts and then lubricating things for a smoother operation. '>

Thanks! The slug rejector could use new springs and trip wires. Is there a source?

I have attached a picture of the unit in question. The shot of the back shows the travel of the vend handle. A pin rides in the curved slot. Hope this makes sense.

How do you attach multiple images?

As to the handle, and I am assuming it is the same as a Vendo 81 (like mine), I agree with taking off the cover plate on the inside of the handle and lubricating it - lube the pin and the even spring slightly (to make sure the spring isn't jamming).  

You may know this already, so excuse me if I am talking at a level that you are already aware of.  But there is a spring-loaded pin and you will see that the metal surrounding it is circular, with one slot.  When the handle is in the normal position, the pin is very tightly lodged in the slot.  When you push the handle counter-clockwise, the pin is forced to "break" out of the slot.  The metal has a slight slope so that it can break out of that position when forced.

If lube doesn't help, you can file down the sides a bit - inceasing the angle of the slope, which will allow the pin to break out of that position easier.  This may be difficult to do, since it is very cramped working quarters in there.  You can also get a new spring and hope it has less tension - perhaps yours is unusually stiff.  I guess you could clip the spring down a tad shorter, but I wouldn't want to try that.  The last resort is a new handle - I have mine for sale, since I bought a chrome handle.

Fixed!!

Some additional cleaning with a dental tool and a tiny bit of sewing machine oil did the trick. Thanks all. Very satisfying to see something come back to life after years of neglect.

First attempt at a Coke machine. Appriciate the clear instructions.

To get multiple photos just used PhotoShop to copy each shot to a new image and used maximum compression to get the file small. Should have made the image smaller though.
