I'm posting this without permission of the sender, so I hope no damage is done...
I just wanted to let our members see how one person was treated when corresponding about a Vendo Milk Vendor restoration for the show...
Quote
Hello Jim,
Here is an update with the History Channel. Here is the "good" news. They, the producers, have approved my milk machine for a show segment.
Now the "bad news"! Their arrangement is for me, the owner, will be required to pay for the entire restoration process which is $6500 plus parts. Also, I am required to pay for roundtrip shipping to Las Vegas including my travel expenses. Incredible!!!
I mentioned to them that they would be reaping all the monetary benefits from the show and I will be paying for all the costs. I asked them to rethink the proposal and get back to me.
WOW!

I was just going to mention that Jim, I too was contacted by the same guy to restore his Vendo Milk Machine and he told me about his "offer" on American Restoration.. .unbelievable!!

I guess I know why he likes my quote better than what was offered by them... biggrin

I do see they are asking for restoration projects... I sent them a couple and anxious to hear what they come back with... I threw out there a Popperette Popcorn machine and a Stoner Jr with Gum Wheel.. just to see if they respond?

If I had the time and money and something that they might want to restore for the show then I would be down.  I would say $6500 for a milk machine restoration, that they should throw in a couple dairy cows.

Restoring America...1 machine at a time!

« Reply #9 on: April 13, 2011, 04:37:20 pm »

"That's why the "pilot" show didn't last. Not enough "suckers" needing their machines restored by a "Professional" and a quick 15 minutes of fame. I'm sure rick is a nice guy but after watching some of the Immature antics on the original show, makes me want to "tune out" and watch a re-run of The Andy Griffith Show!
