Title: 81D drip pan ?sponges?
Post by: Ezra on February 27, 2015, 09:57:31 pm
What were the vertical absorbing pads made out of , that rested vertically in the drip pan, underneath on the 81d.  I have them and they're hard boards.

Thank You

They are called wafers or soakers - made of fiberglass (the repros are at least)
$1.00 each at Fun-Tronics

I think the originals were unglazed low fire ceramic. Soak them in Dawn dishwashing soap overnight and scrub with a nylon brush. If white and porous ceramic. Most originals are long gone. Any pictures would be great.
Thanks!

Thanks for the pics. Give them a soak and a scrub then you will be able to see what you have.
