This happened a couple weeks ago but didn't have a chance to share yet... so here it is as I know you all like stories..
Got a call from a guy a month or so about an old popcorn machine he found. I asked for pictures and low and behold it was this popmatic machine.
he asked if I was interested and of course said yes.  He was moving and needed it out of his house. I said I'll even pay to have it packaged up and shipped up here as it was down near Kansas City, MO.
a few weeks went by and nothing, figured oh well, another one lost..
but finally calls me and says he won't have time to get it packaged and might just leave it as he needed to be out of the house by Tuesday. So my son and I went on a road trip Saturday and met up with him on Sunday Morning in KS.
The machine is fairly complete minus the original front door on the stand.  The insides of course are all gummed up like most of these are so will be a challenge to restore but I'm very excited it had the original top with ad glass in it and in pretty good original shape.
so all in all very happy with it and will be on the collection for many years, hopefully restored one day!

I have a bunch of pictures from two separate restored ones, but only external... from what I know, I don't believe any of those restored actually worked however... I am main concerned about the pump feature as its like some sort of syrnge system and I'm sure the rubber parts if any are no good.. but we'll see...

Are there any patent numbers on your machines?  If so, you might try a search of the US Patent Office.  In many cases they include drawings of the mechanisms.

Going for the trifecta Bob?
I finally have the trifecta now..
Poperette in house and working
Minit pop in shop awaiting restoration
Popmatic in shop awaiting restoration

when does the madness end biggrin

Thanks all for the comments and the Patent search was really cool... found both patents, but funny how neither of them actually match the actual Popmatic machine?  they are similar but have some pretty major variances... so we'll keep looking for an original manual would be KILLER to find!

John welcome to the trifecta club. The popmatic machine is awesome. The oil system is almost like a bicycle air pump or an oversized syringe. it's shoots the oil when you pull the handle down. You use the clock mechanism to adjust the cooking time. so power is only for the lights and heater.

Cool thanks for the info... I have played around with it for a bit now and yes see that large "Syringe" type unit... figured it was for oil... I'll have to take it all apart to inspect it of course and get it cleaned up but it looks like it's all there...
