There will always be people who will pay more for the privilege of paying more.

My experience in watching E-Bay is mostly for vacuum tube and vintage solid state audio gear.  It's this simple, there are plenty of people who will gladly throw good money after bad to purchase something off the E-Bay.

I've never purchased anything from E-bay and I never will. (and I'm equally amazed that anyone patronizes PayPal.)

I usually accept PayPal for transactions outside of the US because of the ease of currency conversion, etc., but rarely for a US transaction.
I will buy off Ebay because there are still good deals to be had there, but I have not sold anything through Ebay in years.

I love to buy on ebay and use payapl, as there are no fees for the buyer.

Selling however, is a completely different animal, and I never sell on fee-bay.

I am in the same boat, I don't prefer to sell on it , but it does have it's place...
if you have an item that you want maximum exposure and don't have a set amount in mind.. it's your best bet to get the most you possibley can out of it.

sure you'll pay a fee to do so , so you just have to figure that into the equation.

if you know you want $100 for something and sell it on ebay and only get $80.00 plus fees... yeah that sucks... in that case put it for sale elsewhere..

but to each their own.

as far as Paypal, I agree with Tom,, out of country transactions, it's great, easy and safe... but if you can avoid it , I do as well.

If the payment is sent as "Money to relative, friend" or something like that reduces the seller fees.

While we are on the popperette subject. What do you think my popperette is worth in this condition? It is complete but globe is broken. Needs restoration obviously. Thinking of selling to buy restored one. I also buy on ebay and love it. I find rare Items i would never find around here.

If you need help on the Popperette.  I can help you.  I did a few of them before and I had the instruction decal made a few years back if you need one.  I think I have some left.

Larry,Thanks for the offer. I'm just debating because I have the opportunity to buy a restored popperette right now. So I'm trying to see what mine is worth so I can decide whether to restore it or sell and buy the restored one.

It doesn't reduces them Creighton as the buyer pays the fees that way. It still is about 4% of the transaction.
