Small pics below.... Try this link for bigger pics.

Look on gunbrokers.com. Pretty much every gun in history there.

No expert, but that is a nice S&W. You can actually hit things with the 5" barrel :-)
Have a couple of gunsmiths take a look for problems.
Doesn't appear to have been fired much but will have old dried up oil that should be cleaned.
It would start at $600 in WA. Off to the gunshow this weekend so will check price.

I found one that to me looks just like it here----->  http://www.gunsinternational.com/-Smith-Wesson-Military-and-police-38-Special-PR20868-.cfm?gun_id=100299973

It does have the box and we don't....Asking price for that one is $749  I have no clue if the prices on that board are inflated or not.

Thank Ya'll for the help....

No gun expert; but, all gun prices (especially any guns that happen to look like so-called "assault" weapons) are inflated since December 14th and the President's commitment to implement some form of additional gun control (that will likely be an over-reach ) during the next legislative session veryangry --no political rant coming, I promise.  But if I were you, I would hang on to that one for the time being.  And keep your powder dry.

PS:  Just in case you were wondering, I am not a gun owner but I feel strongly about our right to own one if we choose!

Looks like a S/W Model 10. These were standard issue police guns in the 70's.  I have one and love it. Great gun for target shooting. Not sure of the value. I bought mine new around 1979. I am thinking they were around $250 then. Would be interested in hearing the value myself.

Forgot to mention you can put a Coke sticker on the grips and it will be worth at least $6000.

That is a S&W 5 screw Model 10, these and the Colt Police Positive were standard issue for most police agencies until S&W came out with the 357 Magnum.

It looks like it has some minor rust just above the swing strap but nothing that can not be taken care of, closed make sure the cyclinder is tight with no play and inspect the hammer for pin wear.  Also these were real bad to strip out the screw on the trigger spring, take the handles off and make sure everything is good to go and you can always take it to a gunsmith and get it cked. These sell for around 400.00 in my area but price is all about where you live and how many is around.

Great gun, if taken care of and as far as being a six shot, my old range officer said when we switched to automatic's if you have not done anything with the first six why in the world would we want to give you 7 more shots...
