Recieved this machine for christmas, Just about finished with all the wiring and mechanicals.  Going to sandblast the entire inside cabinet and repaint the inside today because of the whole food idea being in the machine.  Here is my delema. The outside is dent free, and only has minimal oxidation in the original paint. But the original decals are MINT! (see pics)
I have seen the replacement decals available and they are not an exact match to this machine. Going to blast and repaint the chute, top cover, and base but seems a shame to waste these great original decals and repaint the outside cabinet.  Just looking for your opinions guys as I know the amount of experience on this board.

thank you in advance!!

If you take good photos of the decals you can get someone to make them up for you.
Won't cost a fortune and they will look just like the originals.

I think that if you have gone to the effort of restoring everything else you really need to finish it off.

Looks good the way it is, maybe just do a cleaning and a little touch-up  and then decide.... showing a little age isn't bad it....it's only original once!

I agree originalty only comes once ,but if you are going to start painting the chute and other areas.. the unpainted areas will really stand out next to the freshly painted and will look bad.

my two cents..

Agree leave it as is. If some parts must be repainted, you could always "age" the new paint to make it blend with the rest of the machine.

Also look at some other posts recently made about one of the members did some Paint polishing and cleanup and made the original paint really look nice.. I think he used some mequires products.. sorry dont' have the link handy.. but was a Jacobs Dr Pepper machine he cleaned up... I'd try that.

Ditto, too nice to redo.  A few scratches here and there give it that vintage look that will be gone if you blast and re-paint.

I think they look much better restored.  Mine were both in pretty rough shape.  This is hopefully my "after" picture.  Once again, thank you Curtis for your help.

Yes I did see the decal sets that are available for these machines. But they are not exact replacements if you look. Close.   Think I will go with original Idea and try to polish the orig paint as best I can. And if I need to touch up some areas age it to blend.  Got the inside me mechanicals working perfectly. Wow that was trial!!

Just finished with my pop corn sez machine i got for christmas!   Works PERFECTLY!!!  Amazing how warm the heater keeps the popcorn!!  This is one of coolest things I have ever worked on. (Big thanks to BITW for the NOS heater) Will post some pics tomorrow night..  Next question guys.  As with me when I get a new project I spend HOURS researching the net for information. I came acrosss this article in Billboard magazine from 1949.  Quote: firm is working out a sales stimulator in the form of an animated manikin of its trademark popcorn sez figure. Which will be encased in clear plastic compartment and mounted on top of the popcorn compartment dome. Also enclosed with the figure is a small amount of popcorn, which is tossed about in the compartment by spring action. A small fractional hoursepower electric motor moves a circular ad copy panel around the base of the figure and actuates the spring action thereby causing one arm of the figure to raise and lower. As production cost have not yet been determined cost of device has not been set"  Has anyone seen or heard of one of these?  Do they exist?  Anyone have a picture of one on top of a machine?  Finding a picture of this has really sent me on a crusade....

Thanks.....

Could this be a machine produced with a special top mounting piece to install the "Popcorn sez trade stimulator"
I was reading about in an old Billboard magizine back on the 2 of this thread??

Seems to fit the description?

Thank you!   Full of Orville Redenbachers white popping corn!   YUMMY!  Just am amazed how warm the heater keeps the popcorn!!!
Of course the BEST batch was the one I vended into one of my original popcorn sez bags. That was awsome!!!
But for what I paid for them, the other 24 will be nicely displayed in the bag holder!   Lol

Im glad I decided to keep it original also...
