Title: Cavalier CSS12-96
Post by: Slacker on July 03, 2007, 08:23:20 pm
I picked up this machine a while back fairly cheap and put it on the back burner. Now I would like to get the coin changer working. When plugged in it hums kinda loud, can put money in and nothing happens. The back side of the mechanism and the front of the machine where it sits is black, like it had a flash fire. It has a Coin Acceptors Inc. S75-9400A. It has a 9 pin plug(8 flat and 1 round). My question is where would I go to get it fixed or replaced. Can it be replaced with a different brand. I found this on eBay and wondered if it would work. 140133926037
Thanks
Dk

The 9400 series Coinco mech. is  a nice unit, it gives change in nickels & dimes, the buzzing is from the CREMS ( Coin Return Electro-Magnets) & it can be loud if the little wire fingers are hitting the back of the slug-rejector portion.  you can replace this style mech with any standard ( for old machines!) 115 volt AC coinmech ( Coinco 9800 A or B series, or a MARS coinmech)that has the same style 8-Pin "jones" connector ( you don't count the round index pin, just the flat blades) or if you like. I can have a look see at it & tell you if it's repairable, & you can have a spare mech if nothing else.

PS.. the black "soot" is normal on these machines. it's just old toasted dust & oil thats turned black form the heat that the coinmech generates over the years it's been in service.

Thank you JohnieG. How do I get in contact with you to ship this thing to you?

While you wait on getting it repaired or replaced... here are instructions to make a free vend switch real easy.

I pulled the flapper plate and spring out and made it free vend, just unplugged the coin mech. Once coin mech is fixed, plate and spring will be going back in.

Will be shipping coin mech to JohnieG this week.
