Hello everyone, new guy here, Picked this one up last weekend, looks like most of the parts are there and pretty good condition for age, already pulled rack out and compressor (girlfriend wasn't to happy when she got home and I started to pull some parts out while it was still inside..couldn't wait lol), fired her up for a couple minutes,  seemed to work but not get cold, compressor didn't seem to look in that bad condition after I took a light brush and some air to it, with others experiences with these older compressors, is it worth having them looked at and maybe repaired then restore it? or just go ahead and replace the unit with a new one....would love to try to keep her with as many original parts as possible ....would appreciate others thoughts...Thanks Bill

Welcome to SMC Bill,
That machine looks like it will clean up great. Spend some time reading old posts here on restoration methods.
Best way to get the compressor sorted is to talk with the sponsers of the board that specialize in compressor work.
It's not a DIY type project, not something the local heating/AC shop is likley to be able handle as well.

Have been to Hamburg, NJ. many years ago. Nice place.

The compressor deck is so small on the 44 it is almost impossible to find a drop-in unit that will fit, best to repair the components that are in it..
