Well much to the wife's dismay yet another toy has found it's way into my garage! (it followed me home! can I keep it!?)
on the road today I saw (for the 100th time) a Choice Vend Pespi vendor in front of a machine shop, I had a DSL install job up the street and drove on... after the install was complete the owner and I "Tested"  his new DSL modem out with a quick surf over here to soda-machines.com which of course brought up the subject of soda machines. well after about ten minutes of talking, he said I should talk to the owner of the machine shop up the street about a Pepsi machine he's been trying to get rid of! so off I go to have a look-see, yep it's a black repainted Pepsi CVC 224/can vendor & the owner said he bought it new(refurbished) in 1992 and used it so his employees wouldn't wander off for a cold soda next door at a party store (and get lost coming back from break) but three years ago it (quote) "let out a plume of smoke and quite workin'. " ya want it? TAKE IT!  well two of the factory dudes helped load into my truck and
( visualize squeeling tires as a truck peels out of the driveway) '<img'> & here it is in my garage, drilled out the lock& gave it a going over, no shorts, no fire damage, nothing missing, unplugged the compressor's wire & plugged it in (fingers crossed) it fired up just fine  vend stack, coinmech. etc.&light up sign & all! so plugged the compressor into a sepperate line cord & Jingle bells... cold air! not bad for free! (And yes it's every bit as heavy as the specs. say it is empty=over 500lbs!)  ':O'  offfh!  so anybody got any info on this puppy? the loading instructions says it'll handle bottles too, need to confirm this (It'd be nice to have cans and bottles in the same machine...JohninG  looks like the attached pic out of the machine gallery (only Pepsi & painted black it was red white & blue, you can see it thru the scratches)

Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes.
Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon!
The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p
Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor
11 is louder than 10...
"Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

I don't have much info but will be able to verify if the machine can vend cans or bottles or both simutaneously when I get home tomorrow... Check Back then...

Johnie,

I don't have any idea where you could obtain a manual for the machine... All I have is a one page brochure describing the features, one of which states:
Quote
Time-Proven Helix system. Allows you to vend bottles, nr's. Easily adjusted on location to vend cans.

There's a photo of this helix thing and it looks like some sort of a cork-screw that would vend a bottle/can when rotated clock-wise?
Not much help here... ':<img:'>

Thanks Jim, Yes there's about five sets of "helix-screws" that feed the product down to the chute, acording to the machines attatched instruction sticker (which isn't very useful) you set the four drive gears on the bottom assembly of the helix screws in one of four configurations depending on if you're vending A: "short-bottles"  B: "long-bottles" C: cans in a single feed chute, or D: cans from the "double wide chute"
each gear has  index marks on it @ the 12:00, 3:00, 6:00,& 7:00 position  ':p'   I'm so glad it's very clear in it's instructions!
NOT!    '<img'>  I'll try to post a picture of the assembly and hopfully someone out there might dig up a copy of a manual.
thanks again.
