I got a choice vend cvc-168 and I am trying to get it in working order but the wiring diagram I have is not readable. Does somebody have a copy of one I can get hold of?
Thanks

Although there are a gazillion ChoiceVends around I've had NO luck finding so much as an owners manual on one  '' !
but perhaps we can help talk you through you troubles, so what needs to be done to get this puppy working again,
what's not working? I own two ChoiceVends and have repair several that I've refurbished to working order, they're nice machines, (if not a little large) as they can vend both bottles & cans! so how can we help? '<img'>

I'm pretty sure the coin mech is shot(mars 6200) and I found a mars 6200 on ebay and its on its way. Is there a way to test the rest of the machine without the coin mech? I tried the free vend wiring method I saw listed in this forum but it just caused two of the dispenser motors to rotate. As far as cooling it works great, I'm going to have to figure out a replacement lock as well, the previous owner didn't have a key and they tore out the lock. The good news is I only paid $30 for the machine and the rebuilt coin mech is $30 so I'm not out to much if I totally screw this up.

If the vend motors (Helix/Gear assembly's) rotate Continuously
then the indexing switch that "Parks" that particular stack's vending motor is defective, so do they rotate all the time?
(continuously-running) or did they rotate then "Park" ?(awaiting a vend cycle) once? also do all the heix augers rotate as well? on the stacks that run? (Note if the Sold Out switches aren't either bypassed or have enough cans in that stack, it won't allow a vend cycle) so with the free play switch in place, (pins 1 to 7 must be used as shown in the diagram, not just the switch between pins 1 & 3) when you push the free-play (credit)switch, you should be able to push one flavor button on the machine & get that stack to cycle (Note...a single width stack will cycle twice the length of time as compared to a double-width stack)  so give it a go & keep your fingers clear of the augers on the vend cycle !  ':O'  if you reach under the stacks vending gear assy you'll find a manual (loading) wire lever, when you push on this wire/lever
it wil cycle that stack once per push too, it is used to load the cans into the augers.

johnieG,
First I really want to thank you and this forum because I'd be completely lost without it. I set up the free play again and here is what happened, hit the free play switch  and on this 5 choice machine, slots 1, and 3 (facing machine from left to right) rotate and park. I thought I would try the switch you mentioned on the underside of the gears. Push #5 and 1,3, and 5 rotate. Push 4 and 1,3, and 4 rotate. Push 3 and 1 and 3 rotate. 2 and 1 didn't seem to do much. The hold relay kept popping the breaker on the relay box. Obviously there is a problem in the relay box so I took it off and found that itis in pretty bad shape. Visually there is a lot of corrosion on the relays and I saw at least one relay with a broken return spring. Are these worth trying to replace or is it better to try to get a replacement box?
At this point I decided to go ahead and pull out the gear assembly. During that process I discovered that one evap motor is bad. I also think there are a couple of the stop switches on the helix gears not working properly. I tested one and found it is working on the normally open side but the normally closed side is staying closed. One other didn't seem like it was working right based on the "click" noise of one that works right.
Should I put this thing out of its misery? I'd really like to get it working but I don't want to lose to much in the deal. Are some of these parts available? Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Andy

Well it's not too far gone, sounds like you have some stripped gears in the stacks (all 4 of the augers should rotate at the same time) the relay box should be replaced as a whole unit, the Evap motor is fairly cheap at about <$20 @ Grainger Industrial Supply. (very common for these open-framed motors to stick ) try contacting Pepsi Equipt out of  Sacramento, California, I've had good luck in the past with them, I believe Matt is the owners name, here is his Ebay store link if you'd like to contact him, http://www.stores.ebay.com/store=28212

any ChoiceVend 5 selection relay box should work (regardless of the capacity of the machine 168/224, etc) can you post a picture of your machine? also if you look in the classifieds I've got some Choicevend parts for sale also (shamless Plug!) ':<img:'>
these are nice machines as they'll vend both cans & bottles, and  a 168 is one of the smaller ones my CVC224 is a monster! wieghing in at +350lbs!

I checked all the gears, they seem ok. When I say that #1 rotates I mean that all augers in row 1 are rotating. I'm guessing since the relay box is in bad shape and some of the stop switches don't work right that its causing strange things to happen in the vend cycle. I will just have to pull all the gear assemblies and test all the switches. Any advice on taking apart and putting back together the auger drive assemblies?
I'm also going to continue looking for that relay box and a couple new stop switches if you hear of any.
I don't have a digital camera but I have family that does so I'll try to get some photos and see if that helps explain my dillemas. I'm going to look up that eBay store you mentioned and see if I can find a relay box.
Thanks again and I'm sure you will be hearing more from me soon.

I took apart the auger drive system, I labeled everything as to where it came from so I hope I can get it back together ok, I bench tested all the motors and they all ran fine, all of the gear mechanisms are intact and working well, two of the cam switches are not working properly as I suspected. Now its probably time to do some serious cleaning on this beast. what is the best lubricant for the gears? It looks like they had white grease on them. I hope I can find the relay box and switches as I think I can bring this machine back to life. (If my wife doesn't kill me first!) '<img'>
Thanks

well at least the gear assy.s are in good shape,a good quality white lithium grease will do fine, I don't have a relay box, but do give Pepsi equipt. an Email, they have parts machines available, & they  should be able to fix you up with a good used unit.  '<img'>

I cleaned the machine and found something you might find funny, I know I did, down at the bottom under a couple layers of muck was a nickel with a small hole drilled through it and a short piece of fishing line on it.  '<img'> I always wondered if that would work!
