Yes that is a Lyon 500. page 37 walters 3rd edition. Vendo 500 cups produced in the 1950's Rarity 5.0+. That is a heck of a find. I don't know much about value so someone correct me if I am wrong cup vendors don't seem to command as much as uprights. But that is a great find. Are you going to buy it?

Way Cool find! I haven't seen one in the "flesh" since I was a Kid, down in Detroits Old east side, the Ramona theater had one in it's lobby, me & my "rotten" little friends used to reach up & try to pull down an empty cup, then run to the manager & profess how the machine had "ripped us off" & he'd give us a "replacement" Coke, like I said we were devious little buggers!  '<img'> This is one of the Rarer cup vendors, congrates!

Ok the top is fiberglass. If the tower above the cup holder is stainless steel as well as the corner guards (not shown in the book), when this machine is polished and plated and painted.....You're gonna' need shades ''

Tony,

Awesome find!
You do have this machine in your possession, right...?
If not, DO NOT LET THIS SLIP AWAY ! ! !
Looks to be in decent condition too!
As far as a value, I'd be guessing since these do not exchange hands frequently.

My six cents,

500 cups seems a large capacity for such a small machine. Tanks are "lifted" up and out? .... ouch!
Must be a real compact design. Where's the coin mech. compressor, cupdropping mechanism?'<img'>   Hope we get to see more pictures. ':<img:'>

Tony ,I know your looking for some sort of a price
to put on this, Jeff Walters Book shows RARE . I would try
calling Steve Jebb Every time I talk to him , He just
overwhelms me with what he know or what he has owned.
And then there is Steve Ebner he also has been out
there and is a man full of knowledge . These Two guy's
would be my choice for an ideal of a price.
I will echo Jim  Dont Let this slip away!!

This is one of those great finds.

I am going to take a look this week sometime and I'll take some photos(the inside),I hope everything is intact.Parts would probably be hard to come by for this machine.Think this would be comparable in value to a V81,etc:If I do end up buying this should I leave it the way it is or restore it?

Lyon family seeking machine.

Hello, we are descendants of the Lyon family. Would some of you contact me to discuss acquiring one of these machines for our family?

Also, are there any museums where we could see Lyon machines?

All I have is a brochure on the machine (the Glasco G-400-U2.)  Would be happy to send you a color copy of it if you would like it - would look great framed next to your machine!
