Guys,

Here's another question.  My Cavalier 51 has the old style compressor and I am going to install a new wiring harness for safety.  Here's a photo of the electrical leads going to the bottom of the compressor ball.  Do these just pop out with pliers or a screwdriver or is there some trick I should know?  Also, how do you know what wire is what? I didn't want to do anything without some sort of information.  Thanks in advance.

I just got off the phone with Steve from Funtronics.  Two more parts and $55 later, I think I have the answers.

1. The hubs should unscrew.  However, he wasn't sure, so does anyone know?
2. They are (from left to right), Common-Start-Run
3. Since this is kind of a weird set-up, I had to buy a start relay/capacitor/overload relay (part 9b in his catalog).  This way, I can use the new wiring harness.
4. Then, the thermostats on this machine are 3-wire models.  So, I had to get a new thermostat (2-wire) to mate with the new harness.
5. I also learned the machine was built in March of 1953.

Wayne,

Attached is the wiring diagram for your Frigidaire Refrigeration Unit. You'll notice the three-wire thermostat.

I also remember the caps unscrewing; I also think there's a nut that holds the wire onto the stud.

My six cents,
