Wow, I wonder if Steve knows this is on line?  Does he know the Antique Vending folks?  He sells the catalogs for $7 (which includes shipping, I believe),and this covers his cost of printing and mailing them.  Unless he said it was cool, this kind of infringes on his territory.  Thoughts?

The printed catalog has does have all of the diagrams in the back so that you can find the part you are looking for.

Has anyone bought decals and had to sign the declaration. I am concerned because it would appear that he is unable to sell them to people of a foriegn extraction.

Oh, by the way happy Thanksgiving. Is it just one day or do most people take tomorrow off as well?? Over here we seem to close down for tw weeks over Christmas.

Don't think Funtronics has an email address, or at least it's not published for business purposes.  They can be tough to get a hold of.  I've had a lot of success calling right after they open (9 am Eastern time).

I asked Steve about the decal form last week and he stated you fill it out once and he keeps it on file.  I've not looked at it closely enough to check about the international question.  I'll try to remember to take a look.  Some one here could probably buy them for you and ship them over.  I would volunteer myself.  The only hesitation I have is I live in the same state (Maryland) as Funtronics, so I have to pay 5% Maryland sales tax on every order I make.  The members in other states may not have to do that.  Still, I'd help you out if I could.  I'd just ask for whatever the Funtronics cost was and what it would cost for me to send them to you.

I just looked at the decal form and I didn't see anything to deter you from ordering.  The major stipulation seems to be your signature declares you are using them on a Coca Cola machine.  So, you should be in the clear.  But, I understand international phone calls are $$$, so feel free to ask for a proxy purchase.

Another idea...

I think everyone would agree with me in saying Steve Ebner is one heck of a good guy.  So, if you talked with him and explained how the international phone calls are pricey and how you wouldn't share his email address, he may let you make an order via email since you are not a US customer.  Your guarantee could be if anyone other than you emailed him looking for parts, he could then disallow you to order that way.  So, the only one with anything to lose would be you.  I gotta think he has internet capability, as he is a sponsor of this site and I know he has a computer to keep a record of his customers.  Just a thought.  Holler if you need anything from this end.

I have personally talked with Steve regarding his catalog being placed online at Alan's Site. He is aware of this and the photos too, although I don't think he was happy about the photos being utilized...
Currently, Fun-Tronics doesn't have a public email address that I'm aware of; but I think he has internet access and would be offered an email address from the internet service provider (ISP)...

According to the message I got on the answering machine, Steve and Nancy are out of town until Monday.  Might be why they can not be reached on the telephone.  If I can be of any help to you, feel free to ask.

phoned myself last night. The calls are not a problem. It no longer costs a mortgage to telephone across the Atlantic. Just a few pence more than phoning around the corner. Its the time difference. Work don't allow International Calls and have put a bar on the system. By the time I get home and put the kids to bed etc its getting quite late in the day and Steve seems either to be elsewhere or engaged.

I'll continue trying. I have ordered from him in the past with no problems. It just getting hold of this ellusive man.

If there are problems with International copyright etc on the decals I'll let you know and Josh I'd be grateful if I could take up your offer.

Just as a footnote. Perhaps the greatest footballer (sorry soccer) ever passed away yesterday and there is a feeling of great loss amongst football supporters across the country.

Hopefully George Best can now rest in peace away from his evil demon.

I just spoke to a very pleasant lady at Funtronics and ordered my bits and pieces. A few hundred dollars worth. No problems at all. Decals on the way in the post. I really appreicate all of you that volunteered to help me out.

On another note- I was enquiring about the modified drum. It would appear that he did once sell a drum that vend cans. I have actually seen one of these in action and it would be ideal for me. Cans here and over there are the same size. Does anoyne have one of these that they could post pictures of so that I could make enquires about getting one made up.??

The ther modified drum that vends the 8oz bottles again has anyone used this??? Does it allow for longer length bottles or just the wider width.

If I'm understanding your question correctly, there is no size difference between the older 6 1/2 oz bottles and the newer 8 oz bottles. The glass is thinner to accomodate the extra 1 1/2 oz of soda.

Originally, Vendo manufactured a drum that had stamped holes in the backing plate at each bottle slot to allow for longer bottles, such as a 12 oz bottle. The bottles would be loaded "bottle cap in" in order to fit into the hole and the patron would just remove the bottle by pulling it from the bottom instead of the bottle cap... I have only seen two of these types of drums. I'll assume these drums where introduced in the mid to late 50's so V-39's could remain in service.
As far as the can version is concerned, I haven't seen one or installed one...

thanks for the reply. It would appear that even the modified drum would be no good for me. Coca Cola here only sell in two glass sizes. The samller type that is sold as a mixer in bars. They fit the drum but are just a tadge too small. The second type is larger and too wide and long to fit the current hole.

What I would like is a drum that could vend the plastic bottles. They are the same size as those sold in the US but again they would appear just that bit too long.

Even if I spoke to a company to get a drum made up I doubt they could find those couple of inches to accomadate the plastic bottles.

I have seen the Vendo 39 can dispenser. It is really neat!  It is not a drum. 3 rows of cans are loaded in their "S" shaped channels similar to modern machines.  Open the door and pull one of 3 trays holding the lowest can.
        This ad is from 1998 and I don't know if it is still being produced.

that's exactly the drum I saw at a Jukebox show a couple of years ago. The dealer was not very fothcoming with where he got the drum from. Said he could get me one but for £600.00 which I thought was too much.

Next week I'm going to take my drum to a local metal works to see if they can modify it form me or even build a new one from scratch. Can't see how they can physically make the holes wider to accomadate the plastic bottles. There isn't that much drum between the holes there now. Can but try though.

Funtronics definately don't sell the can one. If I could get hold of a picture of one I could ask the metal works whether they could knock one of those up.

Here's an idea Dave. Maybe have a shop make up a bottle holder using the theory of the can unit pictured, gravity feed.   No crank handle action needed.  Open the door, pull out your selection and the next bottle rolls into it's place.
       In fact, I'll bet there's a dozen people in this group that could come up with a simple design. On one side of the machine is a chamber holding Coca cola, and on the other side, two slower sellers. Each brand lets it's bottles roll toward the door in the center. Add pullout trays and cans can be used.  I have a 39 which is useless because it is missing a drum, and know there are hundreds more like it around.  Anyone want to create and patent this?  Even better if it were able to be shipped un-assembled.

As you say there must be people here who could put something like this together.
I'm willing to approach companies if anyone could come up with a working design but to be honest it would
be far cheaper coming from your end than mine.

You can't leave there... You have started something that has the potential to be a good money earner. Even for those that do have a fitted drum. The chance to vend more than one choice.

Go on bite the bullet. I'm in and will be your first customer.
