Title: 50’s Shoe shine machine.
Post by: johnieG on June 03, 2018, 04:50:54 pm
I keep running into things that are old but still in service, I found this early 50’s shoe-shine vendor in a local electric shop, it’s set for a free shine, but still has its original 10-cent mech, ( and yes it’s reflective of the “less than sensitive”  values of that era,  :oh:  & the sign is back-lit.

Very cool.  I wonder how it works.  Do you put your foot in the bottom hole?  I am assuming it would have buffing wheels???  If that was so, how do you do the back of the shoe?  I like the old black americana stuff.

Yes, there’s an opening at the bottom with a slow speed buffing wheel, as for the back/heel area the buffer sticks out a bit from the base, so I assume you turn around & face the opposite way to present the heel to the wheel.

I'd end up with all kinds of stuff like this if I had the room and cash. Maybe it's good I don't have either.
