Bought a new compressor from Global Compressor thinking it would be an easy swap. Best I can tell that is not the case.
The existing sheetmetal will have to be discarded or cut up. The evap coil will not use the existing standoffs and the handwritten instructions talk about drilling holes in the bottom of my liner to screw it in.
Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.
Bill

Just saw this post a couple of lines down from the GC guy..

http://soda-machines.com/discussions/index.php/topic,17750.0.html

Looks like he sets up his replacement coil for a stripped out liner with none of the original sheetmetal or stand offs.
Sure not what i was expecting. Not sure how I want to proceed now...  drinking

Can you use some self tapping sheet metal screws and screw that evaparator directly to the existing tub?

I'm a little confused about your post? It should be turn key ready to install as far as your existing tub you might have to make some slight adjustments.  I doubt he knew the current set-up your existing tub.

Yeah I was expecting turn key. When we spoke I asked if photos would help and was told all that he needed to know was if the copper tubes went up the center or the left on the back. I assumed that he knew that it was a stock tub as I asked if it was better if i sent him the old coil and fan assembly, was told new is better.
Also was surprised that the deck mounting holes did not line up.
Left him a message Friday as they were closed, will see if I am an idiot Monday I guess. Hopefully I am just missing the big picture.

Added instructions and original coil setup in case someone sees something I missed.

In the instructions provided it states that holes must be drilled to mount the condensing unit to the base and how to mount the evaporator coil by using self drilling screws and where to mount the air deflector. The instructions seem pretty clear. In my experience replacing units unless you get an exact replacement your going to have to do a little fabrication to make things fit.

The replacement coil is much too wide for the side sheetmetal, plus I would have to cut off the standoffs and the grates at the bottom. Not afraid to mod it, just don't want to mod it.
Don't want to cut the thing up and start poking holes in my tub without talking to them. Wish in hind site that I would have sent the old coil. That would have been plug and play.

yes Sir, and we spoke about the new unit NOT being an identicle replacement, along with the dividers maybe needing to be modified or removed. I clearly stated "self tapping screws would be needed for mounting.  No, you don't have to screw hole into the bottom of the tub, if you don't want to. The bolt holes on the base, are off (1) pattern that I have, but won't fit 100% of the machines made. Some new bolt holes might be needed. The copper tubing looks to be bent all out of whack, NOT lining up with your machine now... you need to be very careful, lining things up and straightening the copper lines up. The designs I have come up with, are TIME TESTED and the same designs I've been using for the last 15 years. I hope you left a message, at the shop, with a phone number.... I'll call you tomorrow. If you're my Customer in Tomball (can't tell from your user name here) I'd be more than happy to install the unit for you, free of charge.... bring the box.

It should look something like this... when you're finished.

Just talked to the guy at GC and he could not be more accommodating.
Uncommon customer service.
He offered to replace the new coil with my original so I do not have to mod my box. Even offered to install it for me.
Thank you Sir.

Bill brought the box in on Friday. I snuck down to the shop today, and reworked it. Here are a couple of pictures
and yes I got the box finished and charged up. He wanted the box left alone and the original evaporator coil cleaned
up and reinstalled. I also installed the original dividers, tubing covers, and evaporator top. The machine is ready to be picked up.
Turned out nice and again, sorry for the miscommunication.

Thanks again Bill, I'll call you tomorrow and remember, no charge... enjoy the rest of your Sunday!  smile
