I have a friend who is thinking of parting out a popperette or selling as is.

The machine 90% complete, but missing the front bubble piece which we all know is a crucial part of the machine so he can't sell it complete as that part is near impossible to find.

He wants 1800 for the machine as is... I told him considering the missing piece it might be better to part it out.

so here is what he priced out the parts at .. if any interest contact me and if we get enough takers on the parts, we'll do that.. or if someone wants it for the 1800 as is let me know right away.

Globe 450
Globe top 30
Stand 450
heater 350
Motor with gearing 250
Pump 150
Popcorn chute $50
Thermostat $50
Coin entry $25.00
Salt shaker holder 25.00
Rest of the unit with all switches etc and main Housing and Coin mech 250

I'd bet someone could re-make that piece if they could find an original to make a pattern.  Pretty amazing what you can do with 3D printers these days.  Wouldn't be glass, but wouldn't cost a mint either.

Its not glass it's a thick clear plastic..
I looked into getting it made but the mold and minimum order made it cost prohibitive... $3000+  and didn't think the demand for that piece would be that great as would have to make 100 of them minimum.

It's a shame as I had one spare at one time, and stupidly sold it, but it went to a member here to help him out complete a machine... oh well.

we'll see if any takers on the parts...

I think the geometry could be created by anybody with some CAD skills.  Then a forming mold could be CNC'd from the CAD file or it could also be grown with a 3D printer (I work in the additive manufacturing business and it can be costly).  One you have a mold I think you could form some plexiglass over it with a little heat.  I'm sure there would be a learning curve to get it right but just thought I would share my idea.

Yes sure with enough time, money and someone willing to "Loan" out the original I'm sure it could be made..

but at what cost and how many are needed , it just doesn't work out that way ...

I'm not the only one that has looked into it and from all info we've heard , running into the same road blocks all the way around.

any interest in parts?

Not as bad as you think if you could get your hands on one or make a mold in cad or old school cast. There is a two part mix for clear plastic. Seen it done for truck tail light that there are no repops

I actually have an extra plastic front piece.  Unfortunately, it's not for sale.  I have a red one and a green one.  The green one is on my machine.  The red one was a spare incase someone broke my green one.
