Title: CoinMech Tester
Post by: johnieG on January 07, 2007, 10:21:40 pm
A while back someone was asking for a schematic to my Coinco benchtop coinmech tester. well I took it apart tonight & mapped it out for those of you who are handy with a soldering iron.

all the components shown I've found at my local Radio-Shack, this will allow you to test both 120Volt & 24Volt
Coinmechs that have an 8-pin Jones plug, as well as test a machines vending gear & lamps.

but first a WORD OF WARNING...

A:The machine Must NOT be Plugged into the line.

B:You must take your compressor off-line to use this tester on a machine!!!!  so you can unplug the compressor from the harness, or in the case where it's hard-wired into the main harness remove one of the T-Stats wires & tape it up to insulate it.

Also use tape on the line cord of the machine....

Why? Because in the 120 Volt test position it is possible to Back-Feed 120 Volts through pins 1 & 2 of the Testers Male plug harness ( PL-1) into the jones socket of the machine , which is in parallel with the compessor & line cords wiring down in the machine harness. NOTE the testers 2-amp Fuse!!! USE IT! don't leave it out.

Also beware that the testers Male Plug ( Listed as PL-1)
has 120Volts across pins 1 & 2 as well when used it that test positon. I use a dummy female socket on my tester to keep it out of the way.

Or you don't have to include the male test plug at all if you're only testing coinmechs on the bench

the only thing in the shematic which may not be clear is the main power/voltage selection switch (S1) it is a center-off double pole, double throw type, also available at the 'Shack.
