Just curious if anyone has ever taken out a static evaporator before on a machine??  A static evaporator uses a metal plate and no fan to pick up the heat from the inside of the cabinet and dispenses the heat out through the condenser.  I believe most of the pop machines have air blowing across their evaporators.

My ice cream machines evaporator is a static one and when I removed it the sides of the machine were covered with black mold, actually just the right side was covered.  The back and left side had a little mold.  Just curious if this is normal.  My guess is because of the lack of air circulation the sides mold up.  I'm going to leave the door open after I use the machine now.  So it can dry out.

Yes, I removed the mold before I put the coil back in.  However, I didn't bleach the coil. down
