Collecting Ideal Sliders

« on: January 12, 2013, 08:06:02 pm »

Just picked up a de-embossed HIRES 55 slider. Does anyone know if they were all like this or embossed as well? Also looking for the right paint colors for the logo. Got my first slider 6 months ago. I now have seven. Not supposed to be collecting. Supposed to be restoring and selling, but they're starting to pile up. Addicting!

I've tried to post pictures, but I think I'm giving up. Can't get the files on my MAC  shrunk any smaller than 276 KB. Anyone have any tips?Huh?Huh??? Love this forum, but the picture thing is frustrating the hell out of me.

I'm at Barrett-Jackson all week and there are tons of cool machines there. I'll get some pictures. Love to post them if anyone can help make that happen.

If you open the image in Preview, you can use Tools > Adjust Size.  Change the pixels to 72 (web standard) and adjust the size percentage to make it work (25% or so).  It will show you the new size before you change it so you can play around with it a little.

If you have Photoshop, I can give you instructions on how to really do it right

You could try to email it to yourself and then downsize it. I take all my pics with an Iphone then email them to myself and have the option of what size I want the photo to be.

Was pretty excited to finish my first one...Embossed 7UP. Then I realized every other one is a 7UP. In fact, picked another one up today to rob some parts.

The southwest does not seem to be a big hotbed for these machines. Maybe I'm just getting started too late in the game.

And to think you have two of them for now. When's the trade happening? Just wondering if I'll be seeing the Mission or an OC next week.

It's all good and I'd rather have a Hires or Orange Crush over either one of these!! They are separated by 2000 miles, but will soon be together!

How rare can they be... You have 2!!  tounge

I'd have to agree.. on the OC.. although hard to find yes.. but I've had 3 in my shop over the last 2 years..
One was mine, and two others belonging to customers in for restoration.. and I know Rod has had a couple over the years...
leads me to think they are not as rare as some think? or maybe weve just been lucky to have seen them?
Just my two cents

...and to think I don't even have an Ideal 55 or Glasco slider yet!!  Have not had either one show up close enough for me to snag when I have the play money.  I don't even care if it's a 7up.  I have a Glasco-style mech for when one shows up!  I do have my Dr Pepper Ideal 35 that I love...just waiting to find that elusive coin mech cover that I'm missing...Leonard got the last one of those that showed up!     biggrin

So, they only made 7 OC sliders then: Leonard's, mine, Signguy's 3, and Rod's 2 = 7

Yep...I'm going with that...7 it is!

That also means Leonard has the only original OC ever left in existence, since the others have been restored, or poorly repainted (mine).

Congrats Leonard!
