I am looking at another Vendo 56 Round Top. It needs a complete restore, which I can do all but paint. IT has some rust through issues on the bottom pan, and backside you can put your finger through it.  Should I take the risk on this one? it would need a new bottom pan and some body work to the back and side where they usually rust out? rest is complete just needs overhaul and some minor parts. The guy wants 1700 for it ... Seems a little high to me, but might be willing to go for it if I can bring it back to life. Everything else on the machine is complete?? Any help or suggestions would help as I've never had one this far gone before?
Thanks

Looks like your gonna have to replace about a 2" strip across the back as well as the pan. I usually have to do this on about a 1/4 of the machines that I restore. It's not hard to do if you have the right equip. I would offer the guy 1400.00

The rust is minor, but the asking price is almost double what he will actually get for it.
Has the coin mechanism been removed? If so is it included with the machine?

I agree price is to high, I would offer $1,200.00 seems they are more rarer than alot of other machines but they dont bring the money. people asking $2k for a unrestored machine are nuts ive seen them sell as low as $750.00 on ebay.

Best actual selling price I've ever seen for a RT-56 was $3200. That was for an orginal glass door version that had been in a beauty salon all of it's life, mint condition. If the hard to find and expensive coin mech is gone, I'd say $800 tops. Liner and other bits add up quick.

Thanks guys,,, I too felt it was high.  I passed on it, as the seller said he'd go no lower on it. I'll let him think on it and if he decides to go down, he has my email.
