Hello Mark. I see you have posted here in June with questions about your compressor and members have replied. You are certain your compressor is shot?

For some reason the Cavalier 72/96 is very rarely parted out in comparison to the Vendo 81, maybe better built? Also the 81 compressor could have come from a variety of its larger cousins so availability is much easier.

But there are still several things you can do:

1: Send yours to Eric at Global compressors and get it back ready to plug in.

2: Buy an old squarecorner machine that has that "pancake" compressor and have a local refrigeration shop switch it with your bad one. Or if originality is not of concern, they could always install a modern unit.

3: Look selectively at squarecorner machines until you find the same compressor. Some of the earliest C-64's and 96's used that same cooling unit with the cylindrical evaporator which is unique to the 72/96.

thanks for the info, It all rady had it's original cooling unit swapped out looks like in the 70's but that unit finally died got it running but the compressor started to make a horrrible noise clanging sound and it stopped working completely. I'm thinking of biting the bullet and buying a new unit for it

You won't regret your decision.  Eric is top notch.
