I'd do some homework because my memory is telling me this sign may have been reproduced...

The repopp I've seen and does not have the white beveled edge/framing.. just the wood grain image all the way to the edge..

Sucks they reproduce anything because we always run into this problem with not only signs but other collectibles as well. The ol' it's too nice to be original but then again if it was a repop it would have this, etc.

I had that problem with a Royal Crown flange sign I bought. Seller swore it was 100% original but it looked too good. In looking around it may be a reproduction. So finally I told myself who cares and just hung the darn thing, easier that way.  biggrin

I bought a collection of fairly high end pedal cars, all restored. Little did I know that of the 12 cars I had I learned all have since been reproduced. They were impossible to sell for that reason so I needed to drastically reduce every one to move it. For that reason I will never own another pedal car again.

there was someone selling large reproduction signs at Chicago a couple years back they were nice.. but not dated in anyway...
they had both soda and gas signs.. I want to say I remember a Mountain Dew sign but I don't think it was as detailed as this one pictured.

It is cool, but when I hear a seller say it's "rare" my spidey senses start tingling; especially with signs.

Ask what he or she would consider outside of $1k, should help in making a decision.

What is printed in the bottom right corner? I zoomed but couldn't read it.

I believe that is an original.  If you have any pictures of the back of the sign that would confirm it.   $1000 is a fair price especially in that condition.

I dabble enough in signs to be 99% certain it's original..
STOUT sign company is on the bottom right which was a big sign supplier of its time.

so lets just assume it's original.. .looking for anyone that might be interested in it at 1000.00...

found 3 online that SOLD for well over that.. so may just pick it up regardless

John, it looks original to me.  I have not heard of them reproducing it like this one and it looks exactly like mine that is original.
