Title: WC-42T Coin mech
Post by: Vendo_110 on June 17, 2010, 07:47:33 am
What mods, if any, are needed to use this mech in a V56rt or V-81?

can you attach a pic of the mech? I know the shaft and pin will need to extended and a new hole drilled.

You need to drill a 1/8" pin hole on the horizontal (Westy mechs are on the vertical and larger diameter) and to be correct, there should be an extension for the SO flag. Other than that, they are the same.

Shaft length and pin hole location!

The VMC-44/88 shaft is longer and pin hole is on a diagonal (roughly 10 o'clock - 4 o'clock  - not sure the exact degree off hand). Some VMC-44/88 mechs had 2 pin holes - one for the V-44 (on the horizontal) and one for the VMC-44/88 (on the diagonal). The VMC44/88 used metal door liners and the V-44 used plastic door liners. The metal could not be stamped as deep as the plastic liner (on the V-44) could be recessed; therefore, the extra shaft length on the dual 44 mech would just stick out in between the columns on the V-44 and would not interfere with stack operations. The V-44 pin hole is the same as the 56/81/110; however, if it is a dual 44 mech then the shaft would need to be cut off because off space limitations caused by the 56/81/110 main door liner.
Tricky to write - hopefully it is understood!

So if I understand correctly,

1. The 56/81/110 mechs are exactly the same
2. The 44/88 are the same and can be be used in a 56/81/110? Or is the shaft length too long?
3. The WC-42T mech can be modded to fit all of the above.

Does that sound right?

By the way Tom, I got the coin mech you did for me and can I just tell you it looks great!!  I am going to post before and after pics so other people can admire it along with me!!

#1 = yes along with the Vendo 44
#2 =  VMC-44 & VMC-88 are the same, but not same as the Vendo 44. Shaft is too long and needs shortening to work in the 56/81/11. Shaft does not need to be cut to work in the Vendo 44 as long as a pin hole is drilled for it
#3 = Any mech can be modded to fit any machine

Rick - Glad the mech arrived safely - let me know if any issues arise.
