I have a chance to pick up a National A-62 gas pump locally for about $300. It has been totally disassembled but it is complete and rust free. All of the glass is there and it comes with a nice Flying A reproduction globe. Is this pump worth anything? Does it have any collectibility? Can I would be buying for possible resale. Any Info would be greatly appreciated. The attached pic is just of what they look like. This is not the actual pump.

Joey,
Regarding the A62 pump.. the reproduction globe is worth 90-100 bucks alone (thats what they cost new) The Add glass if reproduction is $30 each, and other parts are quite worth the 300 asking price...
The A38 pump is it's bigger brother and worth well over 1000 in unrestored condition..
So to answer your question for 300.. yes buy it.. if you chose to sell restored or unrestored you'll make $$$

Good luck!

I agree with John. For $300 you can't go wrong on too many pumps in that era. It's not that big or small of a pump. Go for it.
Are you looking at resale or keeping it?

just make sure all part are there---missing parts can get costly if you can find them--as for the a-62

it a good pump to have--cheap at 300.00  go for it

agree with everyone... also make sure the Veeder-Root (The "computer") is intact, and even better if it spins from below and resets... if you're not already on the forum, oldgas.com is a great resource...

Well I went and got it. Its not too bad of a pump. It is just about all there as far as I can tell. It is totally taken apart. The add glass at the top is perfect and I imagine they are reproductions as they look flawless. It is missing one add glass in the middle of one panel. Is that common for the front doors to be different on a pump. I attached pics below. I just put everything together to snap a pic. Nothing is bolted together. The add glass is "Flying A" and the globe is red Indian so I guess I will need a new globe. The glass in the globe is perfect but the ring has yellowed bad. Did I do well?

I've been looking for a pump for some time now, and I think you got a great deal on that one.  I would have jumped on that if I had the chance.

Looks good, nice find!

if you intend to restore--youll need one front door--the a-62 didnt have a ad glass in the door--but a tok 39 door w/out the add glass  will work also or a orig  national door--if your top  has a orignal globe holder  you  got  1 rare piece--hopfully it not a universal holder that someone bolt on after the fact . but over all you still got a good buy--if you want to sell the red indian glass i would be interested--should be a easy project

for help on located parts--oldgas.com---or  cheesepittstop--

If you want the red indian glass make me an offer. I don't really want it as it doesn't go with the pump. I am not going to restore the pump. I think it will end up on ebay probably tomorrow. How do I tell if it is the original globe holder?

I will check on the ring. Give me a few days on the globe. I think the pump will go on ebay today or tomorrow. I don't need another project and was hoping to make a few $$$ to help restore my Seeburg C's.

Here are pictures of the top. It doesn't have tabs but it looks like they were made for each other. The cut hole in the top is stamped and then a lip is pressed into it. The ring for the globe has the same lip pressed into it.

I also took a spray bomb to the pump today just to make it look a little better. Turned out better than I thought. Its not quite as nice as it looks in the pics.

josh looks great... amazing what a little spray bomb color will do for your auction as well.
looks like that top is factory.. you should make a few bucks on this auction.. you may want to try it on old gas first before paying Ebay Fees?
Good Luck!

The top is original. the globe is not. the top casting is 100% original and stamped with the original stamping for the globe ring and the original globe ring.

Yes Jim that is my idea. I need to get these two C's going. Since one is a descent original I may complete it and sell it and then part the other out. I'll have to see.

Unless the cabinet is held together by termites holding hands, I'd hold on to the second C.  Congrats on the pump.
