Great machine, congrats! This is the rare, pre-World war II version with a clamshell opening. I believe all of these were made in 1941. After '41, Stoner was in wartime manufacturing until around 1946. Note the handwritten inspection date of 1941.
The later machines had serial numbers plates which indicated the build dates.

I did find one more clue to this machine that was written inside cabinet that I did not see at first. Serial 3 & 35 J
