I have been using a mixture of horse feed and water to remove rust. It is a cheap method and only removes the rust and will not over etch the good metal.

Here is what I do for this. You can buy horse feed in a 50lb bag what I buy is barley and oates that has molasses in it. This is the typical way it is sold.

 I have one of those food grade containers that is 275 gallons and the foot print is that of a standard pallet. I found mine on Craigslist.

 I mix 1 part feed to 4 parts water. So far I have had the same mix for 1 year and it still works like it did when new.  The reaction is faster when the mixture is warmer but it will still work in the winter where I am.

 The picture below is of a dash and when I pulled it out of the soup it did not look like it got clean but once I hit it with the pressure washer it come off in a sheet

and you said it will take the rust right off oh  .
So how does it work on chromed parts where it is pitted and rusty ?
