I wish the inside of mine looked like that.  That thing is a showpiece!

Very nice.  I am thinking of doing a complete restoration on mine but I don't know the first thing about them.

I found a guy online Bill @ www.pennyscale.com that says if you send him your model# and serial# with your address he will send you a parts list and adjustment instructions FREE. I'm waiting on mine I'll let you know what I get and if it is worth it.

Chris,

Thanks for posting this info.  I have an American Scale Mfg. penny scale with fortune and it needs a slight adjustment.  I am going to shoot the guy an email and see if he has info on my scale.  I also need one of the chrome trim pieces for the front.

Nice scale.  It might be too late to tell you but don't lay it on it's back.  There is a container of oil in the scale used for cushioning the innards when you step off the scale.  I tilted mine and got oil everywhere.  I had cardboard in the car but the scale was a pain to clean.  Oil still shows up in the coin box.

By the way $400.00 is a good price if you don't have to do any sort of restoration.  ILIKECOINOP was correct.  Also, shipping is a killer so if you have it locally, it's a win, win situation.

That guy Bill is very knowledgable and he is willing to help anyone.  A very cool guy.

I wanted the mint green scale without the mirror and with the questions, not sure what the Watling name is, but I found a Horoscope model nearby, that was also in awesome shape, so I bought that one instead.

I will do the same.  Let us know if it works out.   The web site looks pretty cool.

I emailed Bill on Saturday and I received the enveploe yesterday. It had a nice breakdown and price list and pics with instructions on how to adjust and zero out the scale. I haven't tried the instructions yet, but that was a quick response from Bill. I'll let you guys know how the adjustments come out and how easy it was.

Great price considering it has already been restored.
