bat vs foam insulation

got one all painted and ready for insulation. but was looking online and it seems r value per inch the foam is better? anyone use foam before or stick with the original?

Forget the foam. You will have a hard time cutting it to fit the curves and seal correctly. Unless the machine is going to be in sub zero weather normal insulation with the paper back removed should be just fine. Many posts on the subject.

I wonder if there would be any value in leaving the vapor barrier on the fiberglass insulation?  Wouldn't it lessen the sweating in humid climates?  Would be harder to drop the cold box in I suppose.

When I replaced the insulation in my machine I ended up getting a roll of unfaced R-19 fiberglass insulation from the home depot. Seemed to work pretty good and was really easy Just had to roll it out and cut the pieces to length and when you get ready to put the liner back in the machine this trick works really well http://soda-machines.com/discussions/index.php/topic,7766.0.html
