I would suggest buying the wiring harness from a sponsor. It's easy and if you figure in the time you spend figuring out the configuration, you break even (until you know what goes where by heart). Some here have made their own boxes (using regular household junction boxes), but it hurts the value in my opinion. If it is for your own use and not for resale...fine. I've fabricated my own before using electrical tape, but only to test a system...not that it wouldn't have held up, but if a line accidentally got yanked??

Some machines utilized junction blocks for the main line assembly...others used a harness. If it had a harness, I'd use a harness. Safety is paramount!

My five cents....

Being an electrician myself I agree, go with the wiring harness.

This way your assured of using the right type of wire for the application. The stock junction blocks make it easy to DIY. Nothing worse than a bunch of spaghetti and electrical tape to ruin your nice project.

It could easily be done if you were familiar with wire and insulation types and had to knowledge and equipment to correctly crimp connectors and or solder wires.

I have to agree. I just bought one from Fun-Tronics and it worked perfectly. So much easier than trying to figure out what wire goes where and the junction box was built in. The cost is even less than what you would spend at Lowes or HD for the materials and you don't have the hassles.
