Title: Cavalier C-27
Post by: n269chvy on March 27, 2011, 08:47:43 am
Hello, I am new to this and just purchased a Cavalier C-27, dont know much about these machines, it is still in very good original condition with scratches and a few
dings, still stays cool, it is missing the handle in the front and she was going to try and find it, if not here are some questions.

1. Should I restore it or leave it alone
2. Can I find a handle ( she told me it was round ? )
3. Any info good or bad on this would be great

first , welcome,
Pictures will be able to help us get you some answers on wether or not to restore.
As far as handle, have her look hard for it ,as you won't find another one.

Sounds like you beat someone to the punch on the machine. Another member was asking about one shortly before you....

in this thread....

Is that your machine now? Is the rest there? Drum? Pre-cool basket? Let's see some more pics!

Handle will be a bear to find, so yeah - have her look hard and keep checking in with her. Maybe offer to help look for it! Do you know what one looks like? It is different from the classic style crank handle. Maybe she has a ship's wheel version!!
Someone had a repro handle a few years back. Not many parts show up for the C-27, but they do once in a blue moon. Put a want ad in the classifieds here at SMC and just keep renewing it until one pops up. May take a few years, so maybe you should get another machine to keep you occupied.

Hello, Thanks for the replys, that lookd like the machinr in the posts, If it was in Mississippi that was it, I am going to start cleaning it today, it is all intact except the handle, I have a friend that has a CNC Machine and said he could make one out of a block of aluminum, so if anyone has diminsions or real good pics of one front and back that would be great.  Thanks

so if anyone has dimensions or real good pics of one front and back that would be great.
I would love to tackle this project and re-create the handle in AutoCad so it could be replicated via a CNC machine.
I would need an original to get accurate measurements and it doesn't look too complicated in design; however, the rarer "ships wheel" would be a little more complex to replicate!

The repro C-27 handle I remember seeing was a "ship's wheel" design. If I remember correctly, the 3 arms just screwed into the center hub.

Until you find a proper handle, you might use your imagination to rig it up some sort of free-play function with a regular soda machine crank handle.

I made the ships wheel. But i can't find an extra one yet. If i remember right i was asking $ 375 for it. It was a pain to make
