I've found what looks to be a Vendo 63 in 7-Up colors. I can get it for probably $50 ... maybe $75. It hasn't been run in years as the plug's missing.
What do you all think? It's only about an hour away from me.

Its worth more than $50 in parts if it doesn't cool. Definately grab it for anything under $100. It looks like the coin changer is missing...

I saw the blue, but I'm also seeing some Coca Cola red in the door, too. Not sure. I'll know more after Monday, I think.
I think I'm going to go for it. Oy. If I keep this up, I won't be able to park my car in my garage.

Is it common for a coke machine to be repainted/rebranded as pepsi ? there is red paint under the pepsi blue on my cornelius and I have my suspicions that's what they did (though they would've had to replace the plexi-glass sign so I dunno).
I would go for it with that Vendo 63.. if I ever get my machine sold I'll be on the lookout for a V63 myself..
Coin mechs are pretty cheap on ebay for your basic 9800A/B.

It happened all the time. Usually a sign was screwed over the embossing on the 1950's round top's and, in the later square tops, they could simply replace the sign with their own brand. |

I'm probably right in my suspicions then.. they probably replaced the lock at the same time too.. because coke machines have generic locks with no manufacturer name/stamp, and mine came with an Ace II lock as seen on pepsi machines.

Mine is in great condition bodywise.. no rust to be seen other than very light surface rust on exposed metal such as the can flap hinge and the screws holding the door liner on.. (nothing on the door liner or can flap itself)
The paint job has a few scratches but it looks like it was a spray bomb job anyway so I never worried.
The guys at IMI Cornelius were amazed they still had machines kicking, but alas not docs for it, only the sliders.
You think it's fair to say a squaretop is worth a few extra bux if it has no rust and almost no dents ?

I got this machine home on Wednesday of last week and gave it a quick bath. It's in surprisingly good condition.
I've pretty much figured out that it started as a Coke machine, was painted into a Pepsi machine with white back and the blue door, then turned into an RC machine, then finally painted all white for the 7-up machine. The exterior paint is TOAST, so I'm not going to feel back if I don't return it to any of the above vendors.
So, I've attached a couple of pics of the interior. There are two tubes ... hoses ... whatever in the last picture in this post. I am guessing (hoping) that these two went to a water fountain attached to the right hand side? Oh, if this is true, I'm going to be THRILLED.

I also spliced a new cord onto the existing cord - couldn't get the screw to release - and plugged it in. Wow, it cooled right away and was very quiet. Amazing. I am even more excited.
I attached one more pic. I do have the original drip try, so that's cool, and, while there is rust down there, I think most of it is years of dirt.
I think, just because it's a challenge, I am going to try to turn it into a Queen Anne Dr Pepper machine. It may end up living at my house, because ... after all my parents really don't have the room .... '>
I figured out what to do about the feet. Of all things, wood stove feet. I found these on ebay, and they might not be an exact match, but they have the same look and feel.

Just get them silver-tone, and I'm home free. And, I think I've found an outlet for similar corner enhancements. Now, I just get to find that image on the plexiglass sign.

The extra tubing was for the waterfountain on the side.
You seem very ambitious. taking on a project that none of us would try....please keep us posted on this restoration. Those legs are a good start.

I don't understand why they placed water fountains on the side of soda machines?? Surely the potential buyer would satisfy their thirst with the water and then not buy the soda.
How do they work anyway?? Where does the water supply come from??

My guess is there was a hose of some sort that connected to a nearby tap for the water supply.. (you wouldn't want it permantly attached to a water supply) I guess the refrigeration in the machine kept the water nice and cold.

Yes, I have a tendency to jump into the deep end of things, but so far, with other things I've ... jumped into, I've managed to be bizarrely (is that a word?) successful.
Besides, it's one HUGE challenge! And, it would be SOOOO amazing when completed. But, now I want a water fountain, too! Jeez, then I'd have to plumb it in somewhere .... I think I'm nuts.

I bought a case of water bottles when we got up here and it only cost about $4.50... its crazy.... for once I really didn't care, cause atleast the admission tickets were given to me as a gift, so I didn't get totally ripped off...
